    As others have said, LEDs are the way to go and make the electrical constraints mostly a non-issue (at least for lighting). An easy-button/cheapest option if you have a single 60w ceramic bulb base (couldn't quite tell from your description) would be one of these + 4, 60w equivalent LED bulbs...
