How can you do this to your car

I've got a shirt-tailed relative like that, she gets a new company car every 2 years. They usually look about the same or worse in 2-3 weeks! What a lazy pig. If it were me I'd just huck that **** over the seat, put down a drop sheet to lay down so that nothing sticky gets on your coveralls...

    Anyone use Eastwoods MIG welders?

No experience with the Eastwood machines, but keep in mind that anything with a 110/120 V. input is going to have marginal penetration on 1/4"-3/8" stock. Not saying it can't be done, but preheat and edge prep are not just good procedures, they are mandatory with this class of machine. Even then...

Replace ancient MIG welder gun or buy a new welder

Sorry about the confusion about the other welder, I thought you wanted to be able to tig weld aluminum. Big dope slap to the forehead. Glad you found a dealer that is on the ball and knows his stuff (other thread), guys like that are well worth patronizing in the future. About the only...

Replace ancient MIG welder gun or buy a new welder

Isn't there any way you can replace/bypass the shielding gas line in your gun? Seems ashame to throw out the whole gun just because of one little plastic line. Have you tried using the machine with flux core wire? You won't need shielding gas with it and at least you'll be able to see if the...

We can only hope that RocketTR does not have access to power tools.

    What's wrong with this picture?

So why can't you see the lens in the photo if it's like the one you posted ??? I'll tell you why...because the one in the OP's photo has no resembalance to the the one you posted. Not trying to be an ******, but what the hell you smokin' ?

    What's wrong with this picture?

Yes you are looking at the side profile of the helmet. Explain to me how one could possibly see the front face of the hood including the lens when viewing the side, without a mirror of course??? As an example look at the helmet linked to below. Although not identical it has roughly the same...

    What's wrong with this picture?

That looks like a molded in recess in order to give the helmet body more rigidity. Without that recess the helmet would have all the strength of a balloon. What appears to you to be a black marker line is actually a shadow from the light which is coming mostly from behind the weldor, you can...

Lincoln pro 100. Decent at home welder ?

You may be right as I too have the noticed the difference between the 120 vs 240 volt machines in this regard. But my point is that electricity is purchased by the KWH. Not by volts or amps. It takes a finite number of watts to perform a specified fusion weld. Whether the watts are supplied by...

    Mig question?

The way I read the OP's initial post is that ZT Fab only recommended the Lincoln 140. Not with .035 wire in it though, as the OP states that he is popping the breaker since he switched to .035.

    Mig question?

Another vote for .023 wire and of course the 20 amp breaker on a dedicated line. I've got a Powermig 215 and usually run .030 in it for most of the stuff I do. Could even get away with .023 in it for a lot of my work.

    Parting tool sharpening

The lathe will be a sooo much nicer machine to use when you're done. As stated already rigidity is key when parting, this bit of freshening up the apron and compound will make a huge difference. I forget if it's been mentioned already but when parting I lock any axis that I'm not using for the...

Lincoln pro 100. Decent at home welder ?

Ditto! Also welding requires a certain amount of heat input in order to fuse the metal you are welding. It won't be any cheaper for electrical usage to use a 110/120 volt machine for a specific weldment than it would be to use a 220/240 volt machine. The total wattage used will be the same...

    Service Truck Weight, DOT Inspection?

Although I used to drive in Canada and the Pacific Northwest US commercially I am not familiar with most jurisdiction's regulations across North America as they vary enormously. Both sides of the border! A quick check did bring up a few answers for you though. From the Georgie Dept. of Public...
