Ah ok, I thought the clamps were metal and were acting as heat sinks. I always thought about doing something like this with a fan or tank of water, but this is the first time I see someone post it in actual practice.

This is exactly what I do as well. Why spend the extra money on a whole tank that takes up more room. You get multi-use out of the trans jack.
Plus, it would actually be difficult around my area to take large quantities of oil to recycle and trying to convince them I'm not a business.

The general feedback I'm hearing is aesthetics, fire proofing, lighting, dust and spiders.
I asked because my detached garage has drywall on the walls only and I'm sure nothing was done to fire proof it (this was done by PO and quite half assed I might add).

I understand if climate is an issue and you put in insulation then drywall makes sense, but I'm curious what the purpose of drywall is in the garage if there is no insulation behind it? Is it mostly an aesthetic finished look thing?
