"other" uses for a 2 post lift

Lakeroadster, do you have more photos/detail of your John Deere lifting set up? I have a 318 hat I'd like to be able to lift like that.

    Deck board spacing or no

I used 2 x 6 PT on my exposed deck (instead of the 5/4) and no space between them on install. They shrunk to acceptable gaps except for an area within a few feet of a north side wall. It gets little direct sun in this area and not enough shrinkage occurred (15 years old now). Something to...

Working under your lift - stand or sit?

My ceiling is only 8.5 ft so I didn't have too many choices for lifts. The MaxJax lifts 48" and with most cars, I can do that and not touch the ceiling. It's still far better than crawling under a car on jack stands or ramps. I made up this roll around frame for an old bucket seat (patterned...

Max Jax owners...if you don't have one you NEED ONE

I've had my MJ for 3 years and love it. I made up this creeper seat using the angle iron holding some of the lift parts shipment together. Some nice casters and an old Recaro seat, it's pretty comfortable.

    Who's got lathes?

Here's my 1933 South Bend 9". I do all of the work on our cars (old Subarus, an antique Dodge Brothers) and have had many occasions to machine up various diameter cylinders for press fixtures, etc.

    Supporting overhead hydraulic lines?

I'm thinking of moving the hoses overhead with my MaxJax but am unsure what kind of hose and size I should be looking for. The MaxJax manual calls the BOM hose 'Diameter 10'. I don't see that in perusing hydraulic supplies web pages.

    Torch set

Thanks. I'm leaning towards an 80 as a good compromise for occasional use.

    Torch set

Thanks. I'm trying to decide what size oxygen tank to get. I'm thinking 60 ft3 for my occasional use (most automotive, heating/cutting stuck bolts, cutting off exhaust systems, etc). I have a MaineOxy close to my location and am going to check what a rental costs vs. buying a cylinder.

    Torch set

I'm planning on getting a medium duty set up, something like the Victor Medium Duty Performer Outfit CGA 510 but since I do not plan to weld with it and it will be mostly for automotive use, I like the propane vs. acetylene option. However, I can't seem to find anything other than bubble gum...

Seeking advice: Low ceiling garage w/lift. Door opener?

I found a guy on Craigslist selling a complete torsion spring set up for a wood door for $40 (needed new cables). Installed with no trouble, spring winding wasn't as hair raising as some would have you believe... but I can see where eliminating distractions is important. Installed a Liftmaster...

Seeking advice: Low ceiling garage w/lift. Door opener?

Thanks Guys, I have decided that a proper conversion to torsion spring is the best way to go and that it shouldn't cost all that much to do so. There is a steel supply company not too far from me so I'm sure getting the tube won't be a big deal. The door is 9' wide, 7' tall so 10 - 11' of rod...
