Clean once a week, put tools away and pick up as I go.

I buy a bundle each of terry cloth towels and micro fiber towels at COSTCO once a year, wash them once in a bucket of cold water and Castrol Super Clean use them again on the really grimy stuff and toss them.
I went to the auto parts store and bought a serpentine belt that was the right width, cut it to length,skyved (excuse the spelling) the ends and bonded them together with Loctite super glue. has been working great for a few months now. Got the idea from one of the home machinists message boards.
