    I had a career in the military, we became good at complicating simple things;).

    How do you manage work/clean-up time in the shop ?

    Clean once a week, put tools away and pick up as I go. Had to mop it one time after parting out a burned up Jag. Used Purple and water then picked it up with a wet vac.

    Barrel pump question

    I've attached a vacuum line to barrels and used them to empty hydraulic tanks. pulls oil don't see why it wouldn't work in your case.

    Cutting and threading pipe.

    I used one of the HF pipe threaders when I put the LP gas plumbing in my shop, it worked OK but the threads come out rough and require an ample amount of sealer. The ratchet in the handle is not well made and mine required some work with a file to make it work with out trying to bust my...

    Spent the whole day cleaning up the mess a car I was working on that had been in a fire made.

    air cut off vs angle grinder

    I use my electric angle grinder with a cut off wheel when there is lots of room and the air cut off tool in tight places.

    Portable washing machine?

    I buy a bundle each of terry cloth towels and micro fiber towels at COSTCO once a year, wash them once in a bucket of cold water and Castrol Super Clean use them again on the really grimy stuff and toss them.

    Nothing, got nailed for jury duty.

    Installed new rear spring bushings on my 64 Ranchero.

    I was 66 years old when I started building, and 67 when I finished.

    Pulled the headers out of the Falcon, I think something has set up house keeping in them.

    Glue for V-belt??

    I went to the auto parts store and bought a serpentine belt that was the right width, cut it to length,skyved (excuse the spelling) the ends and bonded them together with Loctite super glue. has been working great for a few months now. Got the idea from one of the home machinists message boards.

    I only run non ethanol premium in my saws, and air cooled four stroke engines.
