It sounds like some folks may have figured out how to avoid problems, but when I was building my pole barn, the builders (Cleary) told me that sliding doors always posed a problem with sealing and rodents. Because of this, I went with overhead doors, and I haven't had any mouse issues.

I've got a 30x48x14 pole barn that's come along nicely in the almost four years since we built it, but once I get all our equipment inside, it fills up. It sure would be nice to have an extra 12' of depth, but I suppose that's on the wish list of a lot of people.

If you can talk your S.O. into it, I'd consider higher sidewalls. I have a Cleary 30x48x14. Mostly, I wanted to have additional clearance in case the day comes when I am able to install a lift. I have a bathroom in the corner of our pole building, too. It's a really nice touch.

I used T1-11 on the interior of our pole shed. It's a work in progress, but I like the rustic appearance, and sound doesn't bounce around.
