    Socket organizer improvements

These are very good. They are a little spendy when not on sale though. I got 6 more for $13.00each a few weeks ago. The magnets are great. The 1/2 inch version stands up easily with deep impact sockets in a carts that moves frequently. They never fall over. The tension balls are good and can...

Alternative - GEARWRENCH 85490 Indexing Double Box Ratcheting Wrench Set

Cripe Distributing had some of those as singles last time I was on their site. I have combination wrench variant of those from Gearwrench. They had poor reviews on Amazon for the locking mechanism, but I just wiggle them a bit when I lock them to make sure they are seated and never had a...

Is there parts available for this unit? Do you think it's worth $1,000

If I wanted it, I would give a grand for that. I think it’s cool. I buy a fair amount of used tools off eBay for daily use. If the old tool has a name engraved on it, I call the old guy by name when I use his wrench. “Come on Mr Sal, let’s go to work”. I think it’s good karma.

Sets that don’t match. Does it bother you?

When I was younger, yes. Now I just buy what I need. I work for a Cat dealer. We use 16mm and 18mm for the bulk of the day. Then some 24, 30 and 36. Most hydraulic lines are SAE. Now, I just buy just what I need but I have several, several”air quotes”, versions of each size and length to get...

    Combination spanner set

I have a lot of the original USA SK Superchrome wrenches. Use them professionally as a Cat dealer tech everyday and have never broken any of them. If you can find them on eBay or marketplace, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab them. The only wrench I find more comfortable in hand is the Wright tools...

Universal Impact Sockets: Astro vs Capri vs Sunex vs GW vs Tool Truck

I’m a Caterpillar heavy equipment tech. The only sizes we use are 16, 18 and 24. I use the 3/8 and 1/2 sets often. I have only locked up an 18mm 3/8 drive. A quick email to Gloria at Astro with a picture and new one was on the way. I run them fairly hard usually with an Astro Nano impact wrench...

    Need a small flashlight

Nebo RC Inspector is a great pocket pen style light. I don’t recall the price but I believe it wasn’t much over $20. I have carried it every day for the last 4 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. Rechargeable. I will purchase another if this one ever dies.

    Air Hose Question

I am heavy equipment tech by trade. I use a 3/8 x 50 Flexzilla daily. It has 1/4” pipe threaded ends. It’s been a good hose. After 4 1/2 years of daily use it is getting a bit stiffer. Recently needed another 25 foot hose. Grabbed a Diablo from HF on sale for like $12. It’s an ok hose but it is...

Ratcheting Wrenches - which styles do you use?

Those SP's look interesting, but I work for Cat. 80% of what we use is 16mm and 18mm

Starting out, what do I need?

I am a master tech and a mentor tech for a Cat dealer. The company I work for has an excellent apprenticeship program. You start as an apprentice and you take all kinds of in person off site training. You are required to do 4 hours per week of paid online training on your own. Inbetween, you are...

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

I have the 3/8" drive set and have been using it everyday. No problems or issues so far. They work very well with the Nano impact wrenches. 16mm to 24mm range in the 1/2" drive set will work for me.
