Looking for 20T press w/ Gauge (not made in China)?

Here is a picture of an older Nugier 20 ton with a single speed hand pump. I have used one of these for years with no issues other than fluid leaks, which rebuild kits are still available. These were a step up from current day 20 ton offerings, and likely compared closer with today's 25 ton models.

Looking for 20T press w/ Gauge (not made in China)?

I do not think what you are asking is possible for your budget. There are very few high quality options in a 20 ton model, as that is often a low budget import item built to a price point. I own an older Nugier 20 ton from back when they were U.S. made and not just assembled in the US...

    Retirement ratchet selection...

Great list MJK. I know guys that will only buy flex head ratchets (like magicrat also mentions above). I have been on the fence between your mentioned SF80a (~18"), and the SL80a (15") I listed. My go-to 1/2" breaker bar is 18 inches and has always served me. Thanks for the input and thought...

    Retirement ratchet selection...

marineman, you are correct in that I have a specific task the swivel seem to excel in. I am always taking engine case covers off motorcycles. The small hardware just needs to be broke free then run out. Lot of guys like T-handles for this situation. I have them and never use them. With the...

    Retirement ratchet selection...

Very nice set-up ovilla. Completely agree with the feel of the dual 80 heads. Ralf11, I as well have an apreciation for the bare handles. Though I do have and understand the afinity for a large forgiving grip. Inside my shops atmosphere, I pay particular attention to the environment as to how...

    Retirement ratchet selection...

Thanks to Downwindtracker, anndel, and pontoon for chiming in. As mentioned, specific tool choices are certainly subjective based on one's personal preferance. I am likely guilty in overthinking this. There were a couple ratchets I have wanted simply to replace existing ones with newer head...

    I’m out of the game!

As mentioned, depending on your time vs needed monetary value, local tool dealers could be a resource. Quality stuff always moves before lower quality (even if just percieved). The local tool guys should have a better feel for the local market/clientele.

    Retirement ratchet selection...

Thanks for the input richfinn. Much of my fun wrenching will be on motorcycles. In many of those applications "through bolts with nuts" are common to engine mounts, swingarm pivots, and axles. I also do some frame building and thus setting up locating jigs, etc., in the same manner. My habits...

    Retirement ratchet selection...

At this point, my wrenching will surround motorcycles, cars, light duty trucks, and light duty machinery. My tools were purchased 35 years ago when starting a career in motorcycle and auto mechanics. I have been replacing and adding items as I am neering retirement and intend on staying busy in...

    Lighting plan review...

I am going to attempt some side by side comparison at local supply houses tomorrow. Surprisingly, the industry does not seem that interested in such marketing. Thanks for the input.

    Lighting plan review...

I really wanted to go the LED route, for power savings alone. Two things bothered me though. One, was the stark bluish color spectrum which just did not seem comfortable to my eyes. Two, was how it affected my perception of colors/finishes. Much of what I do involves matching older oem colors...

    Lighting plan review...

Well, after much reading and some lighting simulation's, here is the lighting plan I have developed. The shops inside footprint is 25x29, with 11' ceilings. There is one work bay with a roll up door, other side is a fabrication and machining area. Walls are matte white and the floor is burnished...

Considering switching over to electric weedeater: Dewalt 60v vs comparable Milwaukee

I have been using a Husqvarna 536LiLX with the 5.2ah battery. It has been a very nice tool with a couple hours worth of cutting capacity. The same battery works for the hedge trimmer and chainsaw which I also have. The city maintenance crews have been buying this stuff by volume which is what...

    Exhaust duct details...

Thanks for the input. yeldogt...I never thought of an exterior fan, but any exterior noise would be a slight concern as this is a zero lot line build with neighbors and I would prefer to be as discrete as possible. Duct size was simply the maximum diameter that fit between framing and siding...

    Exhaust duct details...

I am planning to install a 12" round duct 20' long with a Continental inline 840cfm centrifugal fan. This will be a straight duct run through the wall with a simple pressure activated backdraft damper and exterior hood. Shop size is 26'x30'x11'. Duct run will be at 10' high and 4' from the shops...
