I've absolutely abused my Proto 5449 over the last twenty years and it's handled it without issues. After a bit of Super Lube, it's probably the smoothest ratchet I have, too. If that 5249 is the 3/8" version of it, I'd certainly give it a shot.

I just took a look at them last night. Not too shabby. The fit and finish were just as nice as you could want. The head is enclosed in plastic, so I couldn't play with them too much. I wanted to buy a pair of needlenose to test them out, but it's hard to justify when I already have like 8...

Scored two of the right angle Irwin/NWS pliers for $5.00 each and one of the lineman's pliers for $5.74. They're every bit as nice as you could ask for. Website says they have 5+ of each left in stock, so I went looking for them. They're all missing. Presumably, the employees have them set...

The Masterforce 24" level finally dropped under $20 ($14.99 now), so I grabbed one. They're German-made by Stabila. Get 'em before they're replaced with something Chinese.

I got the last one at my store. It was just one box shoved sideways in the middle of the rotary tool section of the regular power tool aisle. There weren't any at the m12 end cap or the holiday gift section. $59 at the register.

The only sets without WrightGrip are old stock sets. The catalog on the website isn't current. Unfortunately, the part numbers didn't change, so there's no way of knowing whether a set is old stock without the seller going to the shelf and looking.

You'll probably be able to wander in ten minutes before closing time and get one with no line, unless you live in the sticks where a lot of people use wood for heat. The only deals that sold out early at the three Menards stores around here were electronics and toys.
