First post here. I just bought the Hitachi C12FDH 12" dual bevel miter saw with laser at Menards for $199, $100 off from the regular $299 price.

Amazon has the single bevel Dewalt 12" for $199 but no laser and no local pickup (obviously). Some good reviews on the Hitachi and looks unbeatable for the price. I wanted something that would cut 2x8s and 4x4s and I wanted to stick with a major brand. The HF 10" slider I have been using has a blade that is not square with the slide and no apparent way to adjust it. It was time to take a step up.

I also bought the Masterforce $99 miter saw stand, the MX77. It looks very similar to the Ryobi stand that gets good reviews but has wheels as well. The Ryobi is on sale for $59 which is tempting, but I think I will try out the Masterforce stand. I wish Menards would allow reviews on their web site because it is tough to find any reviews on this stand.

The Masterforce miter saw stand, MX77, that I purchased just a few days ago went on sale for $59. I will be going back to get the difference. It appears to be identical to the Ryobi stand that HD sells for $59-$99, with the addition of a pair of wheels, and 4 quick release levers for the legs. At $59, it is an excellent buy. I would have probably returned it for the Ryobi which HD is selling right now for $59 if Menards did not match the price. Menard's also sells a larger stand with a wider wingspan and two extra supports/ stops for $169 which is also on sale now for $129. I cannot see it as a good buy since long boards will probably still need an outrigger support.

I am very happy with the Hitachi 12" saw. The laser works extremely well and makes it possible to cut very accurate lengths without using a pencil or marking the wood. I just lay my tape measure out on top of the board and adjust the board until the laser lines up with the length I want on the tape measure. Take the tape measure out of the way, cut, and the length is perfect. The included blade is fine for framing but I would probably want something finer for precision work.

Hey Guys, just noticed this here thread just passed over 50,000 views for the year. That is more than 1/10 of the Lowes Clearance thread for the year! And a whopping 50% of the Home Depot Clearance thread for the year! Go Number 3 Menards go! :) - Paul

Seems about right since Menards is a regional operation and the others are national.

Last year the 11% off on the gift cards was after Christmas. I think it was around New Years or just after. Hope they do it again. Menards has really had tons of sales going since thanksgiving, much more than say Lowes or HD, with many good deals. Don't know how much is left in the queue. - Paul

The Masterforce 24" level finally dropped under $20 ($14.99 now), so I grabbed one.

They're German-made by Stabila. Get 'em before they're replaced with something Chinese.

Ooooooo, thanks Mono, that is a deal. I saw the Lowes level clearance deals recently on Bostitch or Kobalt but could not get a single one of those at my Lowes - totally out of stock. This would be a good 24" size one for sure. - Paul

I got one of the levels too. What a great buy! A couple bucks more than the Harbor Freight 24" level and German Stabila quality!! Wow. This makes the best quality level I own now (really, being on the level here with you!).

That Portamate saw stand is pretty lightweight. The earlier MF one is much better. Portamate does make real good ones, but much more cost than this. Best out there for this price though for sure.

I also picked up a couple Stanley File Handles for my many files for about $2 each on sale. These are plastic but have 3 rubber inserts so you can use one handle with about any size file and change it up as needed. Nifty this way. Thought I'd give those a try. - Paul

I have several of the portamate stands... work great as folding saw horse's also... i bought several so i would have the mounting arms for various bench-top tools to attach to a stand... the entire setup at $30 was the same price as 2 additional mounts as per the internet about a year ago

That's a great point. At $30, you are really just buying the universal mounting arm things. For a main stand though for shop purposes, probably want a higher end one for that.

Hey guys I figured out a good way to use Menard's clearance section on the website. If you go to Promotions, Clearance, then pick All Clearance items, then search by newest first, it will bring up the most recent things added to Clearance first. This way, don't have to go through the whole list and will get the newest things up fast and just have to scan the first page usually. I check it at least once a week now. Let's all share the good deals here when anyone finds them. The recent Channellock and MasterForce Level deals are great examples of us all helping out each other to find the good clearance deals. - Paul

That is awesome. Thanks for the tip! I hate to be the last to discover these hidden deals, and miss out.
Of course, the first thing that popped up when I used it was "moldy brown mulch" - Which I applaud the truth in advertising, but think they must have needed to manually put that stock item in the computer...

...But if you need a pallet of 80 bags, and live in Minnesota, go for it...

Oh man, I didn't know they carried "moldy brown mulch"! Now I gotta make another trip this weekend over there!

Another way to do a search is just on tools and new items first, but I like to look at everything they have, so do the whole clearance section at once. - Paul

I was just finishing up some last minute Christmas shopping and noticed that Menards has most of their Buck knives on sale through Wednesday. I picked up a No 55 (basically a half-sized 110 lockback) for $24.99. This is the lowest price I've seen for one of these and about 60% off of Buck's list price. Made in the USA with a great warranty too.

HEADS UP! HOT deal Menards brick and mortar only, not on website, Bostitch 398 piece mechanics massive toolset for $99 in store only. Will ring up at that when you check out, not labeled that in store. (Like the earlier gearwrench clearance deals we all found). Not sure on Bostitch but is lifetime warranty. Can't beat this price for a starter set pretty complete or a spare set. NOTE this is a very YMMV deal, have to see which local stores have it - not in all stores.

http://slickdeals.net/f/7533286-bos...ch-set-99-at-menards-b-m-only-regular-299?v=1

Not yet front page on slickdeals but will be soon I'm sure. Note some of these are spline sockets, some are 6, some are 12 pt, has 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sae and metric.

Merry Christmas! - Paul
