I built this one and am glad i built my own. I had all of the steel and trailer house axle. Still have $1200+ in it. But its better built and faster than a store bought model similar in price. I split 7-8 cords this year and it works like a champ!

At the bottom of the 2x8 i glued and screwed a 2x4 lengthwise , then ran 8 2x4 slats with 1/2" plywood on top of that. I was going to use 1/4 for the slats but they were more expensive than the 2x4's. Technically it's not a bunk bed as the bottom bed is a pedestal bed built out of 2" square...

The wife wanted bunk beds for the two boys, i found a few photos online and basically copied one. Its sturdy as hell and under a hundred bucks.
