    engine hoist on a truck?

lol. i did that to flip my tractor back on it's wheels. dont need to bother with flipping the legs around, they wont be doing anything anyway. couple stout chains or straps secured near the handle going toward the front of the bed is all i needed.

Hinge idea for a movable folding bench

could use a pair of barrel bolts. this one even comes with a plate for drilling into the side of the tabletop...

Calling a bolt by its head size

from what i can tell, it's actually a pretty easy designation. screws have internal fastening interfaces and bolts have external interfaces. meaning you insert the driver into the screw vs insert the bolt into the wrench/socket/board.

    Electric Impact wrench

i like my kobalt impacts. i have the big 1/2" and the 3/8" plus a 1/4" impact driver and the drill. 1/2" has enough grunt for all but the most stuck of nuts (i'm talking standing on 3' cheater pipe type stuck) and the 3/8" makes running on lugnuts quick and easy.

Regular guys, what's your Sears alternative?

i got into tools after craftsman went to ****. i'm a bit spoiled for choice. i have harbor freight, menards and lowes on my side of town with sears, home depot and tractor supply on the other side. never been to either, but we have a granger in the industrial area here as well as 2 msc stores...

Tools that have great alternative uses?

i used to cook hot dogs with a butane torch. quicker and better tasting than boiling or microwaving.

Tools that have great alternative uses?

i've used the open end of a 10mm combo wrench to install some springs on a pair of benches that the back folds flat to become a bench. worked surprisingly well. not quite the same, but i have used my cordless drill to raise and lower the factory scissor jack when i used it to change from...

Is it possible to snap a bolt/fastener through using too much torque when breaking it

yes. excessive torque, in either direction, is a surefire way to break bolts and studs. how much it'll take is much less certain.

    Manufacturer ID

no clue, but my searching has lead me to believe they are specifically a cable swaging tool if that helps any. any other markings hidden anywhere?

    Jackstands

the wheel chock with retaining pin lockout is a good idea, but i see 2 problems with it in a mass production end user scenario. first, it'll be very annoying trying to get the hole lined up perfectly to put the pin back in. the second makes the first redundant, and that is once that pin is out...

    Harbor Freight Billionaire

i would assume it'd be a case of market saturation. just look at kmart. used to have 3 here plus the sears at the mall, which was built prior to the buyout. now all we have is sears.

should i get an air compressor and tools?

it's my grandpa's house, my mom and i live here for free in exchange for care and assistance. i'm 23 and my nephews have convinced me i'm no where near ready for kids, neither in patience nor cash. already have kobalt versions and just bought into the makita ecosystem this evening (bro-in-law...

should i get an air compressor and tools?

ratchet. seems like they'd be nice for those hard-to-swing locations. use a breaker bar to loosen then an air ratchet to remove. plus they dont cost too much more than an equivalent manual ratchet.
