Hey All,
I'm in the process of setting up lines in my shop and I'm looking for some advice on making a decision when it comes drying compressed air.
I have a 7.5 HP CH compressor mounted in a shed outside of the shop. I'm going to run the line into the shop through the back wall. The...
Sorry to bring this back from the dead, just wanted to finish up the story/decision on it.
My solution to this was to hang the high bays off the ceiling from hooks, chains and V-hooks into the housings per their specified distance to the lid for cooling the ballasts, then I bought some bulk...
Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I figured I'd share what I ended up with:
I saw cut the opening with a demo saw and a concrete blade, then finished off the rough concrete with an angle grinder with a concrete blade.
All prepped and ready for a new roll up garage door and...
This isn't a long term building. I am estimating 15-20 years before it is demoed for housing, hence the bandaid fix for leveling the ceiling. I understand that there is a more substantial problem with the building/foundation and that it will affect the lid over time.
The roof has a couple of...
The building I believe was a pre-fab in the 70's, 2x4 exterior walls and t1-11 siding. Some foundation sinking has occurred over time as evidenced by a couple of cracks in the foundation. The trusses in the middle of the shop are pretty far off the string line I ran from end to end. The...
The bottom chord of my shop's trusses are pretty uneven (up to 5" in one location). The trusses are set 24" on center and I'd like to put up 5/8" drywall on the ceiling at some point when I am done wiring.
Would sistering steel studs to the bottom chord be an acceptable way to get it flat...
Junction boxes will be set into the drywall lid, trying to stay away from conduit if possible. I'd prefer not to work with BX cable, but I would if a 14/4 SOOW or STOW cable wouldn't be safe or to code.
Finding pre-made 4-wire pigtails difficult. And buying new plug ends and outlets doesn't make too much sense if there is a better cost/time alternative.
Blank cover with a knock out like so and just run the cord grip through the knockout?
I picked up 9 Lithonia IBZ 454 housings high bay housings several years ago when I started my shop renovation and it has been a slow go unfortunately. Since then I've realized that I probably should've waited until I was ready for lighting to make a purchase. But since I've already invested in...
I have a 400amp service at my main panel in my home and I'll be running a 125amp service out to my 48' x 28' 1300 sqft shop in the next few weeks.
I am planning the shop wiring right now and I want plenty of room for improvements in the future. I've mapped out a number of 50 amp receptacles...
This is all retrofit, no new construction going on here, just trying to do the right thing.
There is T1-11 Siding all around the shop nailed properly and holding everything together. Beyond the door opening to the "left" there is about three feet of wall tied into the corner, to the right...
