Above 1200 Sq/FT Cars, motos, gas & oil and such

Happy New Year and thank you for the nice comments - much appreciated. I have had the privilege of enjoying some really nice four-wheeled and two-wheeled machinery in my life. The two Lamborghinis and the two Ferraris have been really special, no doubt. The Italians know how to 'do' exotics...

Thank you so much for the kind words SamYoung. Glad you enjoyed the thread! So far, we are COVID-free and still going about our daily lives, albeit, with greater caution and respect for others' health and well-being. Thank you for asking. Work you ask ? Well, the good news is that I will...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Cars, motos, gas & oil and such

After a long search and lots of comparisons, I decided to purchase a Ferrari F12 (which is more of a GT car) to add to my sports-car fleet vs. a 488 GTB, which may have been perhaps too similar to my 458 Italia. The Ferrari F12 is a front engine, rear drive 6.3 liter V-12 configuration. The...

    Chad's NEXT Garage Makeover

Chad - With others' perspectives on Ferrari exotics, here is a thread I read this morning & immediately thought of you. It is worth a read in my opinion - 360 Modena vs. 458 Italia, and Spider variants and the performance 'joys' of the 458's DCT. :3gears...

Chad - I have the same answer on the 360 that I did on the 430 -- only worse, in my opinion. You hit it exactly - engine out repairs are horribly costly. Here are two REALLY GOOD articles / forum threads on the Ferrari 360 Modena and 360 Spider - costs of ownership, what to watch for and...

    Chad's NEXT Garage Makeover

Chad - Love your '59 Corvette small block and the Viper addition to your stable ! I once owned a white 1967 Corvette convertible with a 327 cid small block and a 4 speed manual trans - to this day I regret selling that car !!!! I did post a response to your question about the Ferrari 430...

Chad - Thanks for the compliments on the thread and the exotic car questions. I have not driven a Ferrari F430 coupe or Spider. That said, my neighbor has a Ferrari 430 coupe and he drools on my 458 Italia. I have read lots of material comparing the two cars - spider and coupe variants...

Thanks for posting your friend's success in getting an allocation of the new Ford GT. My congratulations to him and again, it is a GREAT car. My belief & opinion is that he was successful due to his current ownership of a Ford GT -- PLUS -- it is a high mileage car with 50,000+...

55cadillacking - if you still have an interest, here is a link for you: https://www.fordgt.com/campaignlibs/content/brand_ford/en_us/performance/gt/wired/application/terms-conditions.html Obviously the application process is long closed (May 12th) but this will give you a flavor of the...

Thanks ! I agree with you on the Audi R8; very nice car but....... Long story on the new Ford GT application. Boiled down to a few sentences --- I got part-way through the application and elected not to submit it to Ford. The application process truly rubbed me the wrong way on many levels...

I agree with you 100%, some of the DCT benefits are feel, positive crisp shifting - up and down - and shift speed. There is some talk / rumors as to a 2018 mid-engine Corvette ZR1 or 'Zora' with a DCT and ~700bhp. Who knows what reality truly is; however in my opinion GM needs a modern 7 or 8...

Some updated photos of the additions & changes to my "stable" of cars. I had the Ferrari 458 out today for a good run and had a great time with the car - it never fails to deliver on thrills from the driver's seat. :3gears: My beloved manual transmission Cadillac CTS-V and my Lamborghini...

I drove a new Audi R8 today, that was equipped with the 540hp V10. Super nice car and the chassis feels like it is machined out of a solid block of aluminum. Not a shake or shimmy - even over broken pavement. Quite impressive chassis, electronics and seating. It does, in my opinion, lack the...

duffman04 - I agree completely on your assessment of the 458 Italia's dual clutch transmission setup. Amazing shifting speed and precision - both up and down shifting; as well as the seat-of-the pants sense of 'direct drive' just as you would feel in a manual trans car with the clutch fully...

Great question 69bigblok - every sports car I have owned up until now has been a manual transmission car. 1967 Corvette Stingray roadster, 68 427 Corvette coupe, both Viper GTS, Lamborghini Gallardo & Murcielago, CTS-V, Ford GT... My new Corvette Z06 roadster has an 8 speed auto and now the...
