I live in Florida, do I want gas?

Essentially yes, there is a small shed that's ~25x30 with recent 2024 flood damage and a 1600 square foot house that you don't want to enter without a mask on. However there is a good working well and existing septic tank. We bought it for the land.

I live in Florida, do I want gas?

The plan is a shop of some undetermined size, I am getting lots of input and trying to learn as much as I can. A 2500 square foot farmhouse with a nice big back porch, an 875 square foot 1 bedroom ADU, both made out of block, and then the barn/garage/shop. Needs room for 2 lifts, and the...

I live in Florida, do I want gas?

Idk about chilling a pool, maybe in South Florida. The problem with solar is where to put it. You can't put it on the house, becuase if you have storm damage the roofing guys won't want to touch them, and the solar guys won't do it either. If you get a re-roof the solar panels pretty much go...

I live in Florida, do I want gas?

Then why do all my friends have these giant propane tanks for their spa heaters?

I live in Florida, do I want gas?

I live in Central Florida. Its hot here, we had two days last year that killed my 3 baby palm trees, I'm sad. There is a flag for a gas line at the end of my driveway. Its roughly 500 feet from the future garage. I can borrow a trenching machine from work, so if I could in theory drop in a...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Retired Tech - Finally A Place To Tinker

Thanks for the diagram. Here's my 2 cents on the rotator cuff surgery. Take the meds before you need them, write down the directions on a pad and set multiple alarms on your phone. You won't have any pain at all till well after you get home and the nerve block will give you false...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Retired Tech - Finally A Place To Tinker

I'm attempting to buy a new property, and will immediately start a small shop planning. It has a 4 car garage outbuilding with flat 7'9" ceilings, so I'm going to need somewhere for the lift. When you get all your stuff in the shop, can you post up some pics to show how cramped or not...

Running wire to an outside welding area?

I know very little, a friend is teaching me when he has time. I am getting dramatically better with a grinder, that's for sure. However, if I don't practice I'm not going to learn. The extension cord is looking like the way to go.

Running wire to an outside welding area?

If I have 220 in the garage and I wanted to run a wire into the ground to a covered concrete pad about 25 feet away, would this be dangerous? I was going to stick a water tight box to the corner post. Its a small covered concrete parking pad big enough for one car, 4 wooden posts, and a metal...

Replacing Nema 10-50 outlet for electric oven & range with aluminum wire

There were no visible holes in the exterior insulation BEFORE it went boom, there was a very obvious hole and exposed wire afterwards. I turned off the master breaker to the whole house before touching it.

Replacing Nema 10-50 outlet for electric oven & range with aluminum wire

It shorted through the plastic sheathing to the breaker box as far as I can tell. There were no visible holes in the exterior sheathing of the wire. My best guess is that the home depot clerk bent it so far it broke the sheathing for the individual conductors inside the exterior sheathing and...

Replacing Nema 10-50 outlet for electric oven & range with aluminum wire

Make sure they don't bend the wire too drastically when you are buying it. I learned this the hard way. Apparently the PHDs at home depot bent the end of the wire past 90 degrees to make it fit on the little winding jig to measure it out. This was only about 20 feet of wire, but after...

    Subpanel for oven & kettle?

The kettle I have is a regular British kettle I guess. Shipping was as much as the cost of the kettle. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-26080-Hourglass-Cordless/dp/B08L6PT7RX When I had no walls in the condo kitchen during the renovation 2 years ago, I ran 12/3 to the...

    Subpanel for oven & kettle?

I'm looking at a house and the kitchen is straight out of the 80s and the cabinets need to be replaced becuase its just sad. If I move the oven, then I will need to extend the wiring. I was thinking of putting in a small subpanel for the splice. I was thinking of adding a small 15 amp breaker...

Who knows how to install a screen?

Thanks to everyone who chimed in with responses, nadogail was first with the right answer. The groove was .160 and the cord was .160 and it seems to be more than enough with the addition of the screen to fill the groove. I rattle-canned all the aluminum tracks and then replaced the screen. It...
