    ••• Mr.Smoke's Styrke Tool Box Journey •••

Figured I'd give somewhat of a quick update. I haven't forgot about this thread and have been wanting to update but I just haven't been able to make the time. I'm hoping I can get some solid info added to the OP within the next week or so.

    ••• Mr.Smoke's Styrke Tool Box Journey •••

I've been trying to find the time to put together a proper post, but yes there is news to report. My box was dropped off a couple days ago, on Monday afternoon. I was pressed for time so just kinda threw everything in and have been organizing little by little yesterday and today. Still have...

    Insurance For Tools At Work

I am waiting for the guy at our main location who handles all the insurance stuff to get back to my supervisor about adding coverage. With how quickly, efficiently and thoroughly things get done at our main shop I'm not expecting a solid answer any time soon lol. Hopefully I'm wrong but if I...

    Insurance For Tools At Work

I got a ballpark figured sorted out finally and I'm looking at roughly $20k (Canadian dollars) to replace all my stuff including my new $5k box coming in 3-4 weeks. Previously I never worried about it because for the majority of my career (previous 14 years or so) I could replace everything for...

    Insurance For Tools At Work

This is a question for technicians and others who have their own tools at work totalling multiple thousands of dollars in value. Do you have insurance coverage on your tools at work? If so, how much is your premium and what amount of replacement value does that provide for you? Is coverage...

Stuck Picking My Next Tool Box

I originally started with looking at used Snap-On, Mac and Matco boxes. Guys selling private around here wanted insane prices for 10-20 year old boxes in less than satisfactory condition. Used ones on trucks were close to retail prices. Both options either beyond an acceptable budget, in...

Stuck Picking My Next Tool Box

They are impressive boxes and fantastic value for the cost. The current batch being made has the pre-order closing at the end of this week. Next week Styrke does their pre-order giveaway (for every 7 pre-orders they give either a top hutch or 36" service cart to a random winner who has...

How many ratchets do you have in your tool collection?

I've got a decent amount but not nearly as many as some others. I'll break it down between what I have at work and at home. WORK • GearWrench fixed head 24" 120XP ½" drive • GearWrench fixed head standard length 90T in ¼" ⅜" and ½" drive • Westward fixed head standard length ½" drive •...

    Wrench Holders

I looked at all kinds of wrench organizers recently as I'm planning out the organization for my new tool box that is arriving next month. I have a pretty large amount of wrenches I need to fit in a drawer that measures 49"x24½" with a clearance hight of about 2⅜" before contact with the drawer...

    Show your new tool arrivals

A couple new die grinders dropped off this morning by Amazon. Looking forward to trying them out tomorrow at work. Broke my $40 die grinder last week that held up to 8 years of abuse. Wanted to get the same one again but it's no longer available so I decided to get something better and ordered...

Why entry level socket sets still include SAE?

I'm a Canadian as well and I use both. I work on trailers for semi trucks and basically everything is SAE, even trailers built here where the metric system is more prodominantly used. I hardly ever touch my metric stuff at work but I have it there for when I need it. Guys who work on the trucks...

What is the color code for an old dark blue toolbox?

If you have a model/serial number you could try reaching out to Craftsman and see if they can help with a code. Fresh paint matched by the proper code may not match 100% due to its age. Laser scanning is your best bet for touching up spots/sections as it will match the faded/worn paint.

    good marking pen/pencil for metal

For markings I may need to remove/alter I prefer soapstone, especially if I will be marking a cut to be made with plasma or torches. For markings that don't need to be altered or if I'm cutting with a zip disc I use a regular black sharpie or a sharpie paint pen, both of which can be removed...

A Couple Suggestions For The Admins

This forum seems to be full of friendly and knowledgeable folks which is a big part of why I registered here. A great resource for info on tools, learning new things and sharing tricks/ideas/opinions/etc on a good platform. Certainly a good thing that this forum has going for it. Sadly, his...

I have a Rivet Tool Conundrum

The only rivet guns I really use are Avdel brand ($1,000+) ones and another pneumatic kind by CP that was cheaper, but still pricey. We pull thousands of rivets per month though lol. Pulling ¼" rivets with hand tools would get annoying pretty quick, but for just a few you'll be fine with a...
