    O.K., I connected a different hose and still open trigger and release air, which empty's hose and have I to release trigger and allow the hose to fill with air. The compressor does not have to come on until the tank drops down. Should I disconnect the line going into the regulator to check also?

    Nope, compressor stays off until the pressure gets low in tank. I will check with a different hose, I'll see if the neighbor has one. Let you know in a bit.
