Forge welding that without smashing up the spring would be incredibly difficult. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks! Who's the Doctor? Pipe jaws would be great but the only place I saw them online had them for $135 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds like fun except the shipping cost would be wild! These things weigh a ton! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Okay. Fair enough. All I know is that I paid under $100 for my Columbian and I've seen many vises of similar sizes and ages for under $100. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the that chart. I definitely need to weigh my Columbian when I finish the resto. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know how big old vises are... I'm currently restoring a 50+ year old Columbian 205. It's massive, but I don't think it's anywhere near 150 lbs. Probably more like 90-110 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

150-200lb for a 6" jaw? That seems heavier than would be realistic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

$225? That's way more expensive than my area. Old vises easily go for under $100 near me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I should clarify. I haven't yet tried removing the jaw pins. I'm going to get those out after the paint is stripped so I can see where they are. I was referring to the pin on the bottom of the base that holds in the main nut. I decided to leave it after not even an oxy torch and an air chisel...

I just posted recently about restoring a giant old Columbian vise. I'm disassembling it and it's one where a pin holds the main spindle nut inside the fixed jaw. I can't get that pin out for anything. I've tried penetrating oil and heat, and it won't budge. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using...

Opinions on a decent 4.5" angle grinder

I saw a great deal at Lowes recently for a 2 pack of DeWalt grinders for $99. If you don't need 2, just check your local big box stores or Amazon for sales on Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, Ryobi, Ridgid, Hitachi, or Porter-Cable. Those are all good brands and for light to medium duty in a home shop...

    Is this vise worth getting?

This is a decent vise. Looks to me like an older Craftsman. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
