It needs a set of jaws, unless the original ones are still there under whatever that soft jaw material is and its not a real heavy made vise, depends on how much less than the $40 you could get it for.

Ya whatever material has been put over on those jaws is ****. It does say USA though and is 5 1/2" might be worth inspecting it further and making a counter offer if that's the type of vise you want. They are light duty vises I have similar 4 1/2 Jap made one.

That vise was made by Columbian. The jaws should have teeth on one side and be smooth on the other side. If the bolts can be removed, the jaws can be flipped over. A new set of jaws will probably cost as much or more than the asking price.

Otherwise, it's a good medium duty vise for general garage or bench work.
I bought the Craftman labeled version in 1989 and it still looks nearly new after almost 30yrs of hard, but careful, use.

Agreed with Jake. Its a Columbian D series vise. They made these for Craftsman. Its an ok vise for basic garage work.
