us general series 2 vs series 1 flex?

I have my series 1 packed full. Some 2 1/2" drive sockets, many 1 1/2" drive sockets, and all the small stuff. Big wrenches, rigging equipment etc. No notable flex in the box. If I were to buy the box today, because I've had it five years, I'd buy the series 2 56" with some cabinets on both...

    Tool Chest for Reloading Bench

I considered it but don't like the idea of the press on wheels. I built mine out of 2x4s. It's U shaped, 2ft deep, 10ft long. Lots of cross bracing, 4x4 legs, I used a 3/4" MDF top screwed down, then glued some nice sanded plywood on top and stained it, so no screw holes. It looked great for a...

Insulating a square tube metal building??

Different areas are different prices of course. I'm planning for a 28'x48' with 12' floor to joist height. Was quoted $40k for traditional stick built(not including foundation or insulation) planning for 60 lb snow load and 90 mph wind and a versatube frame only rated to 90 lb snow load and 120...

Does a tool like this exist?

There are tools out there but very expensive. Hydraulics tend to be more reliable while electric are more handheld. If you are scrapping the car most places use an excavator to flip the car and use hydraulic sheers to cut the cats off and then cut the rest of the car into usable pieces. If you...

    Attic or no attic?

I have considered half attic trusses and half scissor like you suggested and would absolutely go that route if I were you. However I wouldn't consider it ever being a living space, just storage. That way you can finish it with simple osb and use a ladder to access when needed.

    30x50 garage with lifts

Looks great, I'm considering the same size for my property. I'm anxious to see a couple vehicles inside.

Paint my OSB ceiling or leave as is?

I'd paint it. It would make it brighter and more efficient. When I did my garage I bought one of the harbor frieght sprayers on eBay for $100, best money spent. If the roof is tall you can get an extension and paint it from he ground. Nice and easy.

    Where to start organizing shop

Nice bird, I have a 68 400 as well. Mine doesn't look near that good though:drool:

    Where to start organizing shop

Your opinions will differ from others of course. I'm just jealous of your shop, mine is quite a ways out. Personally I like things in cabinets. I absolutely detest pegboards. So if I were you I would be looking for some nice cabinets and maybe some parts shelves.

28'x34' Work in progress, long way to go...

Beautiful set of cars. I am particularly fond of the cobra. Sorry to hear of the events that lead to it becoming yours but he obviously wanted it to go to someone who would take care of it.

    AZ garage build thread 30x50

Very nice, looking forward to some pics with vehicles in the garage. I would like to build a 28x48 and am wondering if I will end up with the amount of room I believe I will have. Seems difficult to find shops about this size with doors on the narrow end.

best 12" sliding bevel miter saw

I have the harbor frieght with an 80 tooth diablo blade and have no complaints. I don't use it as much as some do. Did some laminate floors and built my work bench with it. If I used it more I probably would have bought a dewalt or something but for as little as I use it and with a nice blade it...

Best metric ratcheting wrench set under $75?

I have a full set of Blue Points and can't say I'd buy them again. Most have been replaced under warranty for either being stripped or the chrome flaking off. The silly laser etched letters wear off fast. I am very happy with the Matcos I have, I think they are called pro swing. I'm not a fan of...

Air hammer whats a good one?

I'm not usually one to reccomend snap on stuff but when I worked on heavy equipment I bought my Snap On 3050 and that thing is a beast. I dot use it much anymore around the garage but when I do, everyone in the neighborhood knows it.

    Look for impact sockets

Matco had a line called adv for a while. They were identical to my grey pneumatic sockets and lifetime warranty. In 10 years as a heavy mining equipment mechanic I only broke the most used sockets in my GP set and would then replace them with the matcos and would never again have an issue. I'd...
