30x50 garage with lifts

Hello there. I have been following many garage projects here and they have given me many ideas for mine. I started the project 2 months ago.

The plan was: radiant concrete , 2 post lift, in ground scissor lift. 12,5 foot of ceiling.

Trench for electricity and both hot/cold water.

Floor drain and drain for bottom of scissor lifts (I ended up switching location for these)


Hydrofoam for radian pipes
lift boxes with drains

We poured in Friday in lifted the wall on Saturday. Motivating.


Preparing the trusts for next weekend today.

First to hold the foam pannels. Second to nail the siding.

It is not sheeting. It’s called Isoclad.

Yes. It’s pretty common for garages. Not for homes.

Pretty sure that a slab that size needs footers in Canada. I seem to remember them clearly on the plans when I was looking at garage builds through Home Hardware Building Centre.

Floating slabs are common in both but it should be thickened edge not a straight 6” and a curb does not qualify as a thickened edge.

It was thickened all around.

Hard to see from the angle but it has a drop of 6 inches all around with rods I added after this picture. So 6 inch edge, 5,5 slab and 6 inch wall.

Also note that it misses foam in the pic. Finished product was all foamed and with eurethane spray foam in cracks and gaps.

We frames some more today and finished the walls.
Ready for roof next weekend.

Hard to see from the angle but it has a drop of 6 inches all around with rods I added after this picture. So 6 inch edge, 5,5 slab and 6 inch wall.

So it’s sloped to 11” thick?

It looks to be an even slope. It should be at least 16” thick imo on the edge flat on the bottom for the same width then slope up at a 45. That’s not the way to create a thickened edge if that’s how it’s made and appears to be from the photo.

And what’s with the mesh? I hope you added rebar at 12-16” center a each direction before you poured?

I don’t work in construction.. I hire guys that do then work with them. For the 50 feet walls we did two 25.
All the walls were up in 8 hrs.

Yes I added rebar all around the perimeter.

I had plans for 30x60 originally but went down to 50. It is still pretty huge I find. It’s going to look smaller when the 24x16 spraybooth is installed inside.

The panel was mounted by a local business.
I will extend the lines of course. Did not want to knock my head on the components. My 2 post will be right next to it.

Are your radiant lopos on 12” centers ?
That seems a bit too far ?
Was that designed that way .
Mine were on 6” is why I’m asking.

16” is max on 1/2” but good spacing for even heat is 12”.

The inside steel is called Victoria. It’s a bit cheaper than the Vicwest on the roof. Made for walls so very thin.
