    Tools from the old world

I had a failure with my PB Swiss hammer this weekend. Apparently the metal face is not solid but rather a steel cap over a Polyamide head. While using it the steel cap shattered! I've really liked the hammer so far so I plan on getting a new head and keeping it around, but I'm also looking...

    Snap-On vs Knipex

I prefer knipex over snap-on for any type of cutter. I bought my snap-on wire cutters first and never realized how terrible they were until I was given a pare of knipex wire cutters as a gift. Now all of the various types of cutters I use are knipex. Also, as pretty much everyone else has...

    Hex/allen bit suggestions

Wiha is great. I've also been using some Wera bits and I really like them. KC Tools is a good place to look for either brand, and you can also find a lot on Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tools from the old world

Those look like some great boots  I've never heard of Scarpa before but I'll have to check them out. I've had good luck with with similar climbing type shoes over the past couple years.

    Tools from the old world

I used it a bit today and so far I am very impressed. I just have to get used to the slow start up. Hopefully not, I wouldn't be able to afford that! :willy_nil

    Show your new tool arrivals

Yeah, the price is pretty high but I've been using one of their smaller cases for a few years now and it has held up really well. I travel a fair bit for work so it's worth it for me to spend the extra money.

    Tools from the old world

I've been in the market for a new impact wrench for a bit. I was going to buy a Makita but then I saw the Metabo ssw 18 LTX 400 on here and decided that was what i really needed :rocker: I also picked up some Wera 1/2in sockets and extensions and a pair of Knipex flush cuts.

    Duckbills... SO, Knipex, Proto, CL

Knipex are what I have and they're great.

    Show us your portable toolbox!

Here is what I use while working on a rally service crew. The box itself is a Pelican knock off from Bolton Tools that I've added couple of Pelican tool pallets to. The bottom pallet is attached to a piece of thin plastic that is on hinges. Under that are my hammers, impact, wrench roll with...

KNIPEX PLIERS - Cobra OR Alligator?

Get the Cobras. I bought Alligators, which are still great, but I wish I had gotten the Cobras instead.

    Torque Wrench

Same here. The 1/2" is something like $150 on Amazon and I just got the 3/8" for about $100. I've been very happy with both.

Whats the best spray on penetrating oil?

The shop I work at started selling Amsoil products last year and there Power Foam is the best stuff I've ever used, but I guess I'll have to try kroil seeing as everyone else seems to be a fan

How much have you paid for tools so far this year?

I'd say I'm closing in on $1000. Sometimes I wonder where all my money goes then I remember....
