I am looking for a good 1/4" drive set of SAE and Metric hex bits to go into my screwdriver. 1/4" drive socket type is fine as well, but I cannot seem to find this anywhere. I would like a complete set though, not 6 of each type.

Any suggestions?

How many pieces do you want?

9 piece metric and 13 piece Sae are not uncommon in hex keys, and are available in 6.4mm bit shanks if you need them. Realistically, 5/16 and 8mm about has high as I would go, but I'm space constrained, and that only saves about 2 pieces. So you're looking at 20 pieces, which could cost you anywhere from $20 to $60 dollars for solid quality.

Which means budget is gonna be a big factor here.

I have been looking for decent hex bits as well and the two brands I am leaning torwards is Wiha and Bondhus. Bondhus has ball end bit sets at about 19 bucks per set, 9pc metric set and the SAE is 12pcs and are USA made.

Mac Tools has two sets on page 2 of their "Featured On Sale Act Now" section. I don't know what your budget is, but I am confident these bits will last far longer than any big box store brand. These are Mac, not Expert. Good Luck

There is a good chance those sets can be bought for cheaper. They don't always update the page and I have purchased things in the past for cheaper than the listed price. Shoot them an email at [email protected] and ask if those are the correct prices. You can also confirm the COO. I believe they are USA made, but not 100% sure.

any recommendations on where I should order Wiha or Bondhus from?

I buy most of my stuff on eBay. Take the time and search around. Then compare on Google under the "shopping" section. 9 out of 10 times eBay will have the better prices with free shipping.

As I was searching around Mac's close out page I found two more bit sets on page 3 of the $100 or less close out section. Again, I'm not sure what you price range is, but email Mac to confirm these are the correct prices. I have bought a lot of different items off these closeout sales and a few times the price has been incorrectly listed.

Wiha is great. I've also been using some Wera bits and I really like them. KC Tools is a good place to look for either brand, and you can also find a lot on Amazon.

You can probably find Bondhus in the box stores. I got mine in Orchard Supply. They are made in USA and excellent quality and strength. Surprisingly inexpensive as well. If I recall correctly I got a pack which had a set of SAE and a set of Metric for ~$25. Later on I picked up a security torx set on Amazon for ~$15 and I'm planning on getting the SAE and Metric in stubby as well as their 3/8" drive hex sets soon (they are on my list lol)
