What I made with a modified HF pipe bender

Awesome! Why is it that a lot of things from HF can be moded like this to actually be functional? Seems like an easy thing they could have done from the factory... Are the "shoes" you made curved at all or are they straight tube cut in half? I can't quite tell from the pictures. Got any links...

Walked on the Snapon truck and saw this

Geez, that's huge! Nice find! Any idea what that kind of stuff is commonly used for?? Industrial machinery??

School me on Snap Ring / Hose Clamp Pliers

Not to hijack your thread, but I stumbled across these cable-actuated hose clamp pliers. Can anyone comment on them? Do they work well? Seems pretty useful... every time I try to use adjustable or locking pliers on hose clamps I get ****** knuckles!!

School me on Snap Ring / Hose Clamp Pliers

FWIW I bought the Craftsman Professional snap ring pliers for about $25 and have used them with great success. They are reversible and can be used for both internal and external snap rings... plus they use removable tips!

    hex and torx bit sockets

Craftsman has a decent set of Torx sockets for about $40... I bought them to replace the GARBAGE HF set I bought years ago.

    They also have a 59" x 29-1/2" it that's a better size.

Looking to buy a new welder, have a few questions

As much as a gimmick some people think it is, the Auto-Set is actually pretty cool and definitely makes learning a lot easier. My vote is for the Miller!

Looking to learn/do welding - advice on unit

Maybe I missed this, but do you have 220V available? If so, the Millermatic 180 may be a better buy for you - it's cheaper and about the same amperage as the 211. If you do NOT have 220V then go with the Millermatic 211 for sure - it's dual 110/220V voltage! And yes, invest in a good...

    309 piece craftsman set

I agree! Most of the core tools are US-made and the warranty if superb. IMO that set is definitely worth $200. I bought a 154 pc Craftsman set a while back for about $100 and have since spent at least another $150-200 filling it out... P.S. Hunt around the web for Sears coupons, too... you may...

Looking to learn/do welding - advice on unit

I bought a small 110V Miller a while back and while it's a great all-around welder and awesome for a beginner (consider 1/8-3/16" thick mild steel the max), I constantly find myself limited by the machine. If I were you I would definitely consider the new 110V/220V units such as the Millermatic...

    Schaller plastic boxes?

That's were I first saw them... on your web site! Didn't know you were on GJ. I, too, want to organize small tools/parts and have found that a lot of the blow molded organizers are horrible quality (the Ernst ones are the best I've seen, but are somewhat spendy), not to mentioned they lack...

    Schaller plastic boxes?

I got a message back saying that other colors are available from their eBay store. Looks like they have some yellow and white boxes available... According to the web site, the boxes are made of high impact polystyrene... too bad it's not ABS. :(
