If you are tightening something with flats then Ill second the plierswrench with its parallel jaws. Otherwise the bicycle inner tube offers good protection and sufficient grip.

Bishop tools on eBay is always a good dealer to look at for pricing on Makita stuff. He always seemed to be real quick at getting the new tools up too.
I use those little guys all the time! Pairs nicely with the TD170.
And actually Makitas impact socket sets are quite nice too which include the adapter for ~$15.
Makita is committed to there batteries, they've been using the same style for longer than anyone I think and they have a bus load of tools to choose from that are all powered by the same batteries.
