    Compressor Hard Wire

That's how I have mine setup. I built an enclosure with a low power switch and 240V LED that shows the compressor is on. If the switch is on, and the pressure switch gets tripped, it activates the relay for the compressor. Although, it was primarily that I wanted an overload for the motor, and...

    Compressor Hard Wire

I got my 5HP compressor for cheap because the previous guy was trying to run it on 14ga with a 15A breaker... According to him it would work for a while before popping the breaker. Didn't want to bother running a better circuit, so got rid of it. He got it for cheap through work, and since it...

True rms meter Fluke 117 vs T6 600 vs Klein MM700 or other

I have been using my 117 for over a decade now and don't really have any complaints. It's reliable, accurate and reasonably rugged. Used it for electronic work, automotive and house. It's way overkill just for checking basic voltage, fuses and extension cords though.

    Hello from Ontario!

I have a 100A subpanel in my garage being fed by 40A breaker in my house. I would recommend doing that instead of dedicated circuits. From the subpanel, you can split off whatever power you need in short runs.

    Hello from Ontario!

From Waterloo Region here. Any plans on what you are going to work on in your garage?

    Record your compressor decibels

I have a Powerex SLAE05E oil-free scroll compressor powered by a 5HP motor. It runs about 70dB, but it's a constant noise without much variance. It's easy to have a conversation right beside it without raising your voice much. https://imgur.com/2BuztuG https://imgur.com/moxnlGN...

Garage computers, (TV) monitor behind the workbench ?

I mounted a TV on a pull down mount off of my mezzanine. I can raise it up when I don't want it in my way, and can pull it down when I want it at workbench height. It's 50" so a bit big at the workbench, but it's perfect when entertaining in the garage.

    Better leads for fluke meter?

I put this set on my meter. They are the best leads I have ever used. https://probemaster.com/8000-series-kits/

    Help with new compressor

I had a compressor with a leaking check valve. After it would shut off, it would bleed air back through the compressor.

GJ Challenge: All Canadian tool set?

Only thing I knew about in Millbank is Anna Mae's bakery. Best donuts around. Have to check out their hardware store at some point when I'm driving through.

    Show your new tool arrivals

My Fluke leads were still good so I kept putting off getting a set. Finally got frustrated one day not having an alligator clamp and ordered up a set. I wish I would of done it the day I got my meter they are so good.

Why no love for ECHO chainsaws?

I know where you are coming from, but I don't care what brand dealership is selling. If their sales staff doesn't treat me like a valued customer, I won't buy from them. I'm not going to buy something I don't want out of spite, but it's not like I hadn't already shopped around. For what it's...

That rim is looking really nice and clean. Looking forward to the final product

Why no love for ECHO chainsaws?

They aren't a small mom and pop style engine shop, I treat that differently. The Echo dealership primarily sells Kubota heavy equipment, and the Stihl dealership primarily sells John Deere. They are both big dealerships and I'm a small fish. I'm not pissed off that they were slow to respond...

Why no love for ECHO chainsaws?

Locally there is an Echo dealer right beside the Stihl dealer. I had bought a weed whacker and a backpack blower from the Echo dealer previously. But when I inquired about the price of some saws and if they expected any upcoming sales over email. It took a few days for them to respond, and the...
