    Well, I wouldn't be so sure about that. Here's the one I bought recently. The logo says "TANNENBAUM" That's German for Fir or Christmas tree. It's hard to say if it's of the same origin, but the shape is strikingly similar to the other one.

    it is recessed. I took a Makro picture with my Lumia and did my best to scrape out the recessed areas with a soft piece of wood, I'm afraid this is the best I can do.

    Well, I didn't find anything about the maker, but I found an axe head with a vaguely similar looking stamp. it should arrive this week, I'm gonna have a closer look and compare the two. ultimately there will be one of the two that I'm gonna use and one will get to retire on the wall.

    yeah, somehow my phone makes the bevel black it had a straight handle, about 17" long the bevel is about 8.5" long, it has a double bevel and no flat side I guess the head weighs about 3 pounds, but that's just a guess.
