    Ductile Iron vs Forged - Yost FSV-5

    I broke a vise, I was calibrating torque settings on my torque wrench by clamping the 1/2 drive part in the side of the vise jaws and hanging weights off of the wrench. I didn’t consider the physics of this operation until AFTER the ****** cheap vise broke. Oh well, lesson learned.

    Broken vise jaw mounting surface

    I bought this vise recently, (A Morgan 40, Chicago) and stupidly assumed the small bit of brazing that was visible behind the jaw was just that...small. I was hoping some idiot had just knocked the very edge off and then tried to fix it. I'm trying to figure out how I should approach this...
