Feasibility of lift in my garage

I have a 4-post with rolling jacks (allows just about anything mechanically one could do with a 2-post other than removing an engine from the bottom) in a 10 foot ceiling garage. It will get a low sports car up to the very top of the lift's travel (6 foot person can easily walk under), but not...

What is your opinion on HF tool "branding" ?

I think it's worth noting that HF has changed a lot in the last ~5 years or so. It used to be they sold one option of a given tool - the bargain basement one. It was the place you went in a pinch when you needed to do some esoteric job and the tool would be used once or twice. Now, they offer...

Anyone have a connection for better pricing on a 4 post lift?

You might get lucky with a used deal, but most of the ones I've found are rusty junk that would cost almost as much as new to restore to serviceable condition. New ones are crazy with the global supply chain issues. I ordered my Challenger 4 post in March and did not get my whole order until...

What Temperature is your Garage in the Winter?

I don't live in a cold climate (we only get a few cold snaps below freezing in most years), but I leave the heat off most of the winter unless a freeze is forecast (as I store a track car that just uses distilled + watter wetter). If there is a freeze, I will set the minisplit at 50* if I'm not...

    Proslat Slatboard Mounting

I added additional framing for my proslat installation. Not really all that difficult if you have a miter saw available. More difficult if you need to remove sheet rock.

Any 4 Post Lift Owners Looking To Add An Inexpensive Rolling Jack?

I ordered a pair of the RJ 3.5 jacks back in mid-April from JMC- still waiting for them to even ship.

2 post vs 4 post lifts

It's totally dependent on your needs and where you are installing the lift. I went back and fourth a long time and just ordered a 4 post (challenger CL4P7) with 2 rolling jacks. Advantages of a 2 post: Clear access to underside of the car Cheaper (if you have good concrete) Fewer posts to...

Using an ATV winch as a hoist?

I use the cheap HF ATV winch as a hoist for a hardtop that weighs about 40lbs. Once it's up, it is clipped into a rope that holds the weight when not in use. That's about as much as I'd be willing to lift with it.

Who uses and likes these mobile battery jump packs?

I'm a fan. They are so much quicker and easier than jumping from another car. No need to beg some random person for a jump if your battery dies while you are out. The lithium ones will fit in a glovebox or spare tire well. My wife recently left her car door cracked which caused her to drain a...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

They are pre-charged, so no charging to be done. Just vacuum lines and release the charge already in the unit. Basically, I installed the indoor unit, placed the outdoor unit on a pad, and did the electrical connections. The HVAC guy connected the lines, vacuumed them, reviewed my electrical...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Update on my install. Ended up paying $400 for vacuum, check-over, and warranty sign off. A bit more expensive than I was hoping, but I still saved $100 over the DIY and don't have to deal with an extra 10 feet of unneeded line set. HVAC guy caught a mistake with my cutoff switch wiring, so he...

MrCool 36k install failure ADVISE needed

Sounds like you might have ended up vacuuming out the entire system (not just the line set) so the system is no longer charged.

Mini split install -- EPA certification required or not?

As far as warranty is concerned: the Mr. Cool warranty cards on the back ask for HVAC technician cert number, not EPA. I imagine just putting EPA cert wouldn't do it. As others have said, not sure the warranty is really more than $200 or so on an $800 unit.

IWAE slow order processing? Where else to order mr cool?

That's a bit troubling as I ordered a 24k yesterday. Fingers crossed they were just on backorder two weeks ago. You can also order them from Home Depot.
