steel trowel finish and air entrainment

Thanks Gene, I assume that you meant 5% air not .5%. Have you had any luck with 3% air and increasing strength to 4000psi. The IRC requires 5 to 7% air for garage slabs but allows an exception to 3% if you increase the strength. Does this help to reduce the risk of delamination in your experience?

air entrainment and hard trowel finish

Hey guys, I'm pouring my garage floor and need some advice on the concrete mix specs. I've poured several slabs before, a couple of basements, barn, sidewalks and patio. I've always specified 5 or 6% air entrainment in accordance with the building code. For the sidewalks and patios I always...

    curing blanket

Hey all, anybody ever use a product called UltraCure NCF, its a one time use curing blanket. Anyone know where to buy it in the central MD or PA regions. The write-ups look good, better than dealing with spraying curing compounds.

    metal pole building

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone used foam insulation to isolate the concrete from the metal trim. I'm considering using a foam sill sealer (6 inch wide x 1/8 thick roll of foam insulation that is typically placed over the top of the foundation under the house sill plate. It's inert and I can...

    metal pole building

Hey Nighttrain that's an awesome shop. Once in there, I'd never come out. Minehas 3 bays for tractor, truck, motorcycle and small area for my woodshop. I waited 220 years for a garage. First big project since I ditched the old ball and chain.

    metal pole building

The company was been good to work with and I'm pleased with the workmanship. The company manager acknowledged that they set the siding and trim a bit too low and offered to pull it off and trim it back. I really don't want to go through all of that. You know the second attempt is usually worse...

    metal pole building

Good morning, my project is a steel pole building/garage. The building is framed and it's time to pour. I ran into a problem with the elevation of the metal siding and trim. The framer tells me that he pours the slab/apron against the metal trim on the jambs of the overhead doors. Said he has...

    Pole Building

Hey thanks for the reply, I don't like wire mesh either. I've used it on several other pours and find its effectiveness questionable. Its useless unless the place and finish crew pulls it up into the concrete. Fiber doesn't do much for you either according to ACI. I put fiber in a large hot tub...

I'm with you Bob, I take them when I can get them, especially if I have a good project going. I'm Jim, new to the forum. I have a pole building going up now. I like to repair/rebuild my toys to keep them going past their expiration date. My barn, basement, and shed are max'd out with...
