    Ghostshield questions

I just had my shop floor poured on Monday and Tuesday and was planning to seal it with lithitec 4500 and siloxa tec 8510 from ghostshield. Before spending $1500-2000 I emailed concretesealersupply with a few questions and they responded with the following: "On a power troweled surface, you’re...

As fun as it has been having a no power and a gravel floor I think this summer I will finally be able to afford some concrete. I've been playing around in sketchup and this is what I've come up with. It's quite crude but should serve its purpose. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism or...

    40x60 Car Hobby Shop

That shop looks really nice and should tie in real nicely with the house. I'm not sure if it's set in stone (or concrete) yet but since I tend to see a garage in terms of parking spots I'm not sure I understand the 2 post lift placement. There isn't room for a car behind it so why not install it...

I can definitely support that color combo. Your building looks great! I really like your porch.

    50x63x16 Shop Build

So I thought I'd give a quick end of summer update even though there has been there has been no progress of note aside from "moving in." I still don't have utilities run or a floor poured. It looks like it might be a little while before I can afford those but I'm getting good use out of the...

    50x63x16 Shop Build

Since the excavator did such a good job leveling of the building pad with the rough grading I set the building grade height so that I would need minimal prep before putting down the foam board and concrete. The problem since I'm still a year or two from doing concrete I am left with a 7" gap at...

Has anybody used a structural engineer?

Where do you plan to purchase the materials? In my experience most suppliers will draw you up plans for free if you're purchasing the materials through them but if you don't follow through with the purchase they will then charge you for the plans.

    R value of garage doors

I'm not a fan of looking back on an old thread with no conclusion, so here it is. I did go with the Haas 2000 series doors which was the most expensive of my 3 options. It is a 2 inch thick door and has a rated R value of 17.66. The biggest reason to upgrade to the 2000 series is the seals...

Welder57, thanks for your input. I installed the gutters in the manner you describe because I was warned if I didn't the sliding snow could rip them right off the fascia. I did check with the materials supplier and they offer snow guards in a continuous design. I'm going to push through next...

In-Floor Heat Help! Garage Gurus needed.

I'm far from an expert but don't you want to use different water temperatures for floor joists heating vs slab heating? Maybe someone with more experience can chime in.

Thanks rixtrix. A wood pile is pretty serious stuff, I've regretted the decision multiple times already and it's only been a few days lol.

    50x63x16 Shop Build

Today was finally garage door day. I don't have too many pictures of the installation because although it's not easy for me to be hands off I was trying not to be a bother. I had Lifetime Door install Haas 2000 series commercial doors. They are 2 inches thick and are labeled as 17.66 R...

New Jersey: Pioneer Pole Buildings 40'x60'x14'

This is a shop that I have rented for the past few years. It was put up by Pioneer back in the mid 70's aside from some wear and tear and a couple minor roof leaks it is still a very sound building.
