What kind of clientele do they serve? A mixture of techs and average DIY'ers? I can't see a store like this staying in business in the US for very long, because the average home owner is more than satisfied with cheap tools.
Buy a project car or bike. Something cheap and something not critical to your daily transportation needs. Start with a couple of easy jobs like brakes, shocks + Springs, exhaust etc... and move on from there. Repair manuals such as Haynes and Chiltons can guide you along for those types of jobs...
I ran into this a couple of days ago trying to remove a ABS hydraulic module. It drove me up a wall trying to figure out what kind of fastener it was. :lol_hitti
Keep in mind different brand of stubbies will be different lengths. I tend to prefer the shorter ones my self personally. So with that I opted for SK and (older USA made) GW.
Never tried any SO stubbies so I can't comment on them. MAC stubbies are a little bit longer than SK's, this may be...
