    Ridgid 40A Tristand Question

I picked up spiral pipe reamer locally for dirt cheep and the fellow threw in some "scrap" for free. I came hope with a Ridgid 40a Tristand, an un-repairable air compressor (no parts to be had, thanks to corporate greed), and two sledge hammer heads. What I can't figure out, what is the jack...

    Proto Challenger Ratchet Question

The second on the right looks like a 1060D. Should be a very nice ratchet. I'd clean and lube it up. I bet the other two pear heads are crude in comparison, although the Snap-on is worth a lot more because of demand. I had a flex head Snap-on just like that, sold it because I couldn't stand...

    Proto Challenger Ratchet Question

What happened to them? I'm thinking -3's and -4's may be double paws, the ones without the suffixes may be single pawl. I don't have the Stanley made -D one with the thunbweel, but I read that it is double pawl. I'm not exactly sure...I'll see what shows up this summer.

What Happened to Round Head Ratchets

I picked up a Craftsman 44977 recently. It a VERY nice ratchet. It has dual paws, but I can barely differentiate between the two clicks, but it does click twice. I think some dual paw ratchets are either more out of sync than others, or maybe some have offset toothed pawls and are assembled...

    I was thinking about that!

    Proto Challenger Ratchet Question

I got these two for like $5 a piece, and expect to find them at the flee market for less. They where pretty gritty before I cleaned and lubed them. I was really, really surprised to find that the 1660 was a single pawl.

so - if buying a Milwaukee impact, do i want ball retenion or a friction ring?

Is that the reason? I did have to put a ring on my IR (Mac) gun.

    HF equals what?

Yes. I use mine for stuff I don't want to damage. Rubber mallets are horrible in comparison. They are not heavy enough and they bounce. I can't take a normal ball peen hammer to a brake drum that I want to put back on.

Ok, just wondering. I have my compressor in my basement. We kept ours inside the house when I was kid too. I hate dragging the hose around though. I need to put a port on the back of the house.

Who's using HF dead blow hammers (not ball peen) ?

My harbor freight dead blow lasted a few years. I busted it wacking too hard on break drums and rotors. I'm a home user.

    Proto Challenger Ratchet Question

Picture for anyone who may not be familiar with these. 3/8" 1260-4 is on top, 1/2" 1660 is in the middle and 1/2" Craftsman RHFT is on the bottom.

    HF equals what?

I'll see if they will warranty mine. I have a cracked one too. For the price, I'd rather crack a HF deadblow, than one that costs 4 times as much. I do plan on buying multiples, but I'm a home user.

Is there a reason you want an electric one, for home use? For the prices I get used tools for, I just gotta ask.

    4 Point Sockets

I've got an old 3 foot pipe wrench for things like that, and would like to get a 4 footer soon. I'd be worried about breaking the plug though. I'm sure a little low heat (propane or MAP) to expand the tank around the plug can't hurt.
