Thoughts on the various lift manufacturers ... specifically 2 post

I looked at all of them in late 2019 and went with the ATLAS PVL10 ($3,100 + tax out the door). I believe I got it thru Best Buy Automotive. I paid an installer $750.00 to pick it up and install it. They were finished before lunch time it was three gentlemen. I am not one for farming out work...

    Drywall repair in rental apartment

We had the pipe to our shower head fail last Saturday. I had to cut out the bad sheetrock to make the repair. I fixed the bad pipe and patched the sheet rock than taped and mudded. It took me four passes with the mud to get it paint ready. I let it dry overnight each time.

Above 1200 Sq/FT No existing workshop... Another 40x60 shop

I am no engineer, I am sure someone on the GJ will know better than me and will chime in. The way I understand it, the X braces add stability, they also are used to true up the frame when erecting.

Above 1200 Sq/FT No existing workshop... Another 40x60 shop

I did the clearing myself, but I let someone else put up the building. I thought about putting the building up myself, but the reality is it was to big of a job for me by myself. Clearing the land by myself, took a lot out of me. I paid $9K for a crew to do it and it was delivered and up in a...

Above 1200 Sq/FT No existing workshop... Another 40x60 shop

Building looks great! You did a lot of work in a short amount of time especially with all that traveling, you should be very proud. It took me twice as long to do similar work when we built our 45x55x14 5 years ago. Your shop looks way bigger than ours for some reason. Below is a few pics of my...

Disadvantage of surface wiring in a pole barn other than cosmetics and cost.

I have no issues with it surface mounted, never considered hiding it. I always liked the way it looked. It has allowed me to add circuits as I add equipment. I also used the Rapid Air system. Keep us posted with some pics.

    May actually build my dream...

From what I read on GJ that cost is probably pretty fair nowadays. Make sure you get a several quotes, we did and the quotes varied by as much as 30%. We did not go with the cheapest we went with who answered our questions the best. Do your research and move at your own pace in deciding. Even...

Garage width for lift, two cars, and use of the walls

Go as big as your wallet and wife will comfortably allow you to. I can not recall anybody ever saying "I wish I had less room to work with". Remember to make your concrete pad thick enough where you plan on putting your lift. Keep us posted on your progress and good luck!

    New shop questions!

I really like those garage doors. Shop looks great. In regards to lighting I went with 9 13,000lum UFO LEDs on my 45x50x14 shop. They light up the whole shop quite well. When I got them 5 years ago they were $49.99 a piece. Not sure what they go for now. I like the idea of the plywood walls for...

    Build now or wait?

One of the main reasons we moved from NJ to Georgia (in 2017) was for me to have a shop. It took me several months to get our house set up the way we wanted. Then I concentrated on clearing the trees on a 80x100 spot for a 45x50 pad. This was done by myself (while still working a full time job)...
