    So what's the verdict on power .. I have a 6.2 amps ..7 inch wheel 1/2 horsepower(1975) ..in terms of power ...real world is that the one your looking for. I'm assuming these aren't cast iron parts by this era, but not sheet metal either right ? I see the 3/4 has 6 amps, 1hp has 6.8... but 8...

    Yes this is what I am working on, I have tried soaking it with chemicals as it had a good amount of gunk on this side, it was caked in there really thick and looks like it has never been removed. Yes this would be the left side of the grinder.

    I'm already a step ahead of you and picking up new Jaw <smooth> inserts from him and sent him my spindle for some work. I guess I meant the actual vise jaws themselves where the welding occured. Would y'all advise just taking an angle grinder to that to smooth out..or would take remove too much...
