I think I'm just going to go ahead and go straight to painting it and hope that the rough surface isn't at the back of my mind every time I enter the garage... I'll most likely just try to add pot lights instead or maybe do a more intricate paint job. I'll keep you guys posted as I move along...

No, the floor is quite strong and it's not that old. I think the contractors just opted for a really cheap version of the floor when the house was being made, around 15 years ago.

Just looked it up and apparently I need to rent a diamond grinder to even it out? It's almost 300 to rent so that's out of the question since I'm working on remodeling the kitchen and first floor washroom. I guess I'll just apply this Behr epoxy paint and hope for the best. If anyone has any...

Thats exactly what I didn't want to hear... One of the main reasons I'm painting the floor is to make it smoother. Do you know if applying a few more coats will even it out? Not sure that buying any of the leveling products would be within my budget price or time wise.
