They are old and are thicker than any other ammo cans I’ve seen. Maybe your on the right track with electronics. I have some similar cans that are not as tall. They where first aid kits. As for the bomb site, I was thinking about the Hogans Hero’s episode the was based on the Norden bomb site...

These aren’t toolboxes, but they sort of fit into this thread. I got these from a neighbor recently, we think they are ammo boxes, but can’t find anything similar.

Energizer are the only batteries I can get to work in my Miller elite. The energizer batteries are a little bit thicker.
