    insulation questions

The roof of my garage is corrugated steel and the top outside is a patio. The garage isn't insulated at all so obviously it gets cold but the main issue is when its very cold and we have a warm day the concrete patio heats up but the garage is still cold and the corrugated steel is cold and it...

    My first tig welding project(s)

I have relitivly the same tubing at my shop that i'm building a chop saw stand at. Don't worry about blowing through it, at least not on the fillet welds. I weld that material at 180ish amps and have never had issues with it wanting to blow through one me. I find it works to take a dry run on...

    Liberty Tool

couldn't agree more. At some point we were taught that working with our hands is below us now. I see kids come on the job and don't know how to use basic hand tools because those skills aren't taught in schools anymore. Its sad, I take pride in the fact that none of the cars in my family has...

Can I get Some TIG help please

your tungsten size isn't your problem, if you're only welding 45-55amps 1/16 tungsten can handle that with no problem.

    Why am I getting Flashed?

Florescent lights won't auto darken a helmet, but incandescent will. Depending on your helmet it can be a couple things. Some auto helmets rely on a battery to actually auto darken, and use the uv light from the welding to charge that battery, the battery could simply be dead. Thats what...

Miller Elite welding hood, a good choice?

I say go buy one based on what everyone said here and don't try them out for yourself. When I want a new car I just ask people whats good and stroll into a dealer and say 'my neighbors, brothers, friends, cousin, on his mothers side after the divorce said this car is the cats ***.....i'll TAKE...

Miller Elite welding hood, a good choice?

Go to a local weld shop and try a few on and see what you like, you won't be able to weld with them but they all preform the same. I've used lincoln, speedglas, miller, hobart, jackson, there is really no difference, its green, you strike an arc its dark. Some are heavier than others, some have...

    Anyone have a Longevity 160PI?

His name is Jody. He's a great welder and gave an honest review on the everlasting machine. But he will openly say to get a Lincoln it Miller if you can afford it. I have a 33 year old Miller tight that has never failed. There are plenty of info on these import machines breaking. If you look...

    Anyone have a Longevity 160PI?

I just watched a video for their new digital tig welder, which is rated at 50 amps, and 40% (meaning, at 50 amps, you can weld for 4 mins with a 6 min cool down) duty cycle, which would say at 100 amps that machine has less than a 20% duty cycle, and at full output of 200 amps its likely less...

    Anyone have a Longevity 160PI?

I guess their ok for the occasional user. I would never outfit a shop with them though. They list the duty cycle at 60% for rated amperage, but don't tell you the rated amperage. That rated amperage could be 40 amps which would basically make the machine worthless.

HF 60 gallon 2 stage compressor

I normally agree with that, but a larger compressor is just like a smaller compressor just better honestly. When it comes to welders I always suggest a 220v machine because no matter what you 'intend' to weld, you will always need that power for something down the road, and its better to have it...
