How to lift air compressor to attic?

Can you take a few pics? You might need to build an A frame and hoist it up into the attic. I'd put some "sleepers" under the feet of the air compressor and on top of some good 3/4" plywood fastened with screws.

Just ordered rock for the front of the SHOP

Did you get regular 3/4 or 3/4 filter rock? I like to get reg 3/4 along the driveway because it has the fines in it, and then the filter up by the house and shop, so it doesn't get tracked in by shoes.

    I-beam support?

Since I am a structural engineer, I too would suggest having a registered PE do some calcs. I would also suggest calling some of the one-man outfits rather than calling a firm, unless you know someone that moonlights, as it is generally cheaper. If you need any contacts down in your area- let...

    I-beam support?

Sounds like you could have fewer posts. I think trying to go with steel and trying to bolt it together without posts wouldn't be as economical as using steel and one or two posts. (Although- my Dad and I did this when I was a kid, and we **** welded and added welded plates to the joints of the...

    I-beam support?

Depends on alot of factors. What is the load on the span? Where are you located? You might have to go to a taller web in order to get the connection to work for a moment connection in the middle of the span.

    My shop pics and stuff..........

Looks really nice Root. I heard you could cut that sheet with a circular saw- just put the blade on backwards. I never tried it though.

    My hotrod barn

Hey Nate- looks great! I have the same air compressor- man is it loud. One thing for sound insulation- you want alot of mass to stop the sound waves- 'glass wont cut it. I plan on using some CMUs (aka cinderblocks) and dry stack them in the corner to try to cut down on noise.

Hello all. Just read about the new affiliation of the HAMB with this site, so I thought I would come over and check it out. I am a Structural Engineer that currently works for a limestone manufacturer in Kansas as a project manager. My Grandad was a building contractor in Connecticut, and...
