I tried to just overlap most of it but I used tinsnips when I had to. It sucked but it works. Years ago, I borrowed the coolest cutter ever. It was electric and looked like a handheld jigsaw but instead of a blade it had 2 rollers and would pull itself along. The one I used was made by Black and Decker but I have never seen another one.

Root! I am planing on using galvanized for the lower section (6') in my garage. Can you give me an idea of what I should expect to pay?

I'm sure that will be regional. It's cheap here. BUt there are a lot of barns here. It seems like it was about 8 bucks per sheet.

Here's a few of the paint booth and how I stepped it up over the rails for storage upstairs. Also there is a shot of some fake brick wallboard I used in the welding shop. Looks kinda retro.....retro what a gay word.

Looks really nice Root.

I heard you could cut that sheet with a circular saw- just put the blade on backwards. I never tried it though.

Not trying to "kill your thread" Roothawg :bounce: but I've cut steel quite often with a circular saw and the blade backwards. Works great, not too sure how long the blade will last though if your doing alot. Safety is probably another story as well:p

ALSO not trying to kill your thread, I did my barn, and cut the steel the same way (circular saw, blade backwards) just use goggles, long sleeve heavy shirt (it spits out small pieces of the steel), and ear protection if your cutting a lot at one time. it also gets real LOUD....

Hey root... How did you cut the galvanized steel sheet?

Ryan, there are two ways.........Dirty with a carbide blade in your circular saw. I dont like that method. The NOISY way is to turn an old circular saw blade BACKWARDS in the saw, no ****. I learned that doing tin siding and roofs in college. Wear long sleeves, good eye protection and ear muffs, it is noisy as hell but works really well.

Nice shop, Root.
I notice you are in OK. so you get some winter. Did you insulate between the walls? That corrugated tin looks GREAT inside... I'm gonna steal that idea..
I too have used that backwards sawblade method.. Works great, and after about four years my hearing is coming back as well... Mutate or die!

I've cut the corrugated stuff with my 4 1/2 grinder, little easier to control, edges might be kinda rough but they will want to be trimmed out anyhow?? The brick paneling is cool, decent fire resistance I would guess??

This is the second "shop tour" I've looked at this moring, my place *****...

It's not zboard or anything like that, it's basically just like the siding on your house.....what's that stuff called? Masonite? It's not cheap though , about 25 bucks a sheet.

I insulated the shop then put up the sheetmetal inside. The insulation is actually installed before they sheeted the outside, trapping it between the frame and the sheetmetal.

Really using the big scissors(tin snips) isn't all that bad. The stuff is only 26" wide. Cutting it longways is another story.

I won't show you how much junk and how trashed it is right now.....I have 3 cars torn apart. 2 frame ups and my race car motor is pulled out. I need to find time to get busy.

Every now and then, someones gotta bump an old one up here. I have to admit, I like how the inside is done up, but on the outside, its a simple metal building.

I wonder how the masonite 'fake brick' panneling holds up under wear and tear and grind and weld??!!

I really like the look of those panels. If you wore a good respirator could you plasma cut it, or would it burn up too much of the coating
