Best bang for the buck for heating my larger shop in New Hampshire

I only have two forms of heat in a shop the same size as the OP(28x48): a wood stove and a 175000 BTU torpedo that I burn diesel in. Mine is half insulated, there used to be a wall separating the two sides so one side is drywalled and has a ceiling, the other half is just bare pole barn. I've...

    Unusual Chas Parker Quick Release?

Got it all freed up and clean(ish) today. I'm going to guess that most of this was a shop built modification. Or it has numerous repairs. It works well, but only has an effective clamping range of about 1.25". The back contraption keeps the main screw from turning once you dial it in. She's...

    Unusual Chas Parker Quick Release?

Picked this up today at the antique store, trying to find out some information about it. The knob at the front adjusts the main screw, and when you're close you turn the handle about 90 degrees to clamp it down. I'm not sure what the contraption on the back does. The screw is stuck, so I'll...

HF vs Matco boxes for home useage...

I've seen both up close, and personally, while the HF box isn't bad, I'd personally rather have the Matco. Much better quality IMHO. Plus depending on how old the Matco is, it probably has character. :)

Mac vs Matco vs Cornwell vs Snap-on

Very good advice here. I grew up on Cman and Mac, but after being on this forum for awhile the snap on bug hit me, so I bought a set of SO's. I didn't like them, only for the fact that they didn't "feel" right. The quality is great, just like everyone boasts about but the beams were too thin...

    Leave compressor tank charged?

Another vote for leaving it charged. I do turn off the ball valve at the tank, turn the compressor off, drain the water and let the air out of the hoses, but the tank is full all the time. I do use summertime air year round though...I like the smell better.

Working on your own - DICEY but FUN!

Well, I'm certainly guilty of this one as well. Due mostly to my stubborness I work alone quite often, and most recently on my Ford truck project. Not only have I wrestled the nose (fenders, and core support assembled) on and off numerous times while trying not to dent the sheet metal, I also...
