Cost breakdown and lessons learned on newly built 35x50x16

I've been looking for a reasonably priced scissor lift around here for a long time. Dealers buy them all up and then ask too much for them. I've bid on a lot of the ones on local bidadoo eBay listings, and I'm always outbid by one bid at auction close. I'm convinced they're willing to overpay by...

    Ferris ZTR Advice

I have a 600IS and it's still too rough for me, so I bought a suspension seat from Northertool.com for under $300 and now it's very tolerable. As long as I'm spending your money, get the 800, I have a Kawasaki engine in my 1999 454 Arctic Cat 4 wheeler and it's been great!

How to run 12V lawn sprayer off of 48V electric mower?

Couldn't he just tap all 4 of the batteries in parallel? No power loss from the converter, no amp limit, and it's cheaper. Am I missing something?

What do you guys with a lift use for an oil pan

I used to do that until I found one of these at a scap yard for $40: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200057024_200057024 I wouldn't pay $500 for one, but it has been great and I love it. It rolls around with ease, comes with anti-spatter pad and screen so you can just let the...

    pex vs copper

I'm with you, however, I can see the benefits for the cold water, mainly for avoiding pressure drops when multiple branches are used at once and shutting off desired lines all at one location. But hot water is different. First, hot water usually isn't needed at several points simultaneously so...

    What's this 40 x 100 shop house worth?

I had to get an adjustable rate mortgage from a small local bank for my property. I put 20% down. I got a 15 year and was pleasantly surprised when the 1st payment was 50/50 principal/interest. Which is very important if you plan on paying it off early, or only keeping it for a few years. After...

    What's this 40 x 100 shop house worth?

Everyone is saying that you can't build it for that, but the fact is, the value of a shop is less then half what it costs to build in most situations. I would have loved to buy something like that, but not much over market value though, unless I planned on staying for the rest of my life. The...

New shop build 40x60 plus a canopy

Here's a link to my shop: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283199 My shop was finished Feb 2015, and I wasn't that worried about erosion, but of course 2015 turned out to be the year we've had the heaviest rain in recorded history (since 1890's). The side that needs the...

New shop build 40x60 plus a canopy

What are you going to do about a retaining wall? You're site looks a lot like mine did, carved out of the side of a hill. I've been putting off building the retaining wall and have to shovel dirt around from time to time.

    Keeping Vehicle Maintenance Logs

I've accumulated so many things with engines, my main problem was remembering oil capacity and general specs. I took a 3 ring binder with tabs/separator sheets and wrote down all the specs from the owners/service manual for most everything I have that needs regular maintenance. I also have a...

    PEX - Educate Me

I'm using PEX A in my shop, got the Milwaukee tool, makes it very easy. But I worry about the hot water side. Wouldn't the heat weaken the joints? How far downstream is it OK to use PEX from the water heater? I like my hot water about a notch down from scalding.

    Quad outlet wiring

I've framed in a room in my shop and it'll be drywall. The room (1000 sq ft 2 story) now has it's own subpanel. The existing quad off the main panel at 3 ft high is not needed anymore (EMT is coming from above, can't get any lower), so I was planning on flipping it around to make an exterior...

    Quad outlet wiring

OK thanks, I feel stupid now. This outlet is a leg 10 ft below the main run. I couldn't comprehend why it would need to be run in series, but I guess with GFCI it has to be. BTW, there are multiple GFCI outlets in each circuit, isn't it only necessary to have one per circuit?
