    2-Post Lift Decision

Remember that you are lifting from the chassis, not the tire so lifted trucks are not that big a deal. Same with most pickups, there is a bit room from the ground to the chassis.

Compressor dropped during move, now junk?

The paint looks worse than the steel. Clean it up and really give it a good visual inspection. See it it will polish out with some 220 paper if it bothers you. The cylinders are made on a roll in a shop- they get handled with cranes and forklifts, not padded gloves. They are not perfect when...

Best way to properly vent my new pole barn?

I did say "if". Just figured it would make sense.

Best way to properly vent my new pole barn?

I will disagree and say do not cut holes in your building. If you did a spray foam on the roof deck and all you have a sealed building envelope. Kinda like a thermos bottle. This is how new construction energy efficient homes are built. Open the doors when you are there and it will dry out...

    Aluminium Wire Connectors

I have used alumicon connectors quite a bit. They use a setscrew and are great to work with. http://www.kinginnovation.com/products/20/3-port-alumiconn

Steel Truss in Enclosed Pole Barn

If you want a drywall or liner ceiling have the truss manufacturer put purlin clips on the bottom side also. The bracing will be above that surface- you have an easy to work with surface for your ceiling and insulation.

Why are 12 point sockets everywhere.

No, they are not cheaper to make. Usually have thinner walls and will fit in tight spots better. Much better in tight places and they also fit 12 point fasteners. 12 pt is the standard in aircraft. About the only 6 point sockets I own are impact sockets.

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

Once you put the HD40 on you cannot dye the floor. It has to penetrate the concrete. There are some densifiers out there that you mix the dye in and apply it but I have not tried it or seen the result. Applying the dye is easy.

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

Thanks all! There is a lot less work doing the dye than doing acid stain. I have done both. There are a whole lot more colors in dye, and you could so stencils or multi colors if you wanted.

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

I bought 5 gallons of HD40-$350.00, could have got by with 3 gallons. The dye was about $70.00, 5 gallons of denatured alcohol $75.00. Bought a new mop bucket, mop and 3 mop heads $70.00. 2 new sprayers, microfiber mop set and package of 10 disposable microfiber mops, new deck brush and masking...

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

And the final product. Took me 3 full days, but I like it and didn't spend a fortune. I dust mopped the floor and damp mopped to pick up all the dust from the burnisher.

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

As I said, this takes time. I spent 6 hours on a 24 x 42 slab. I made 5 passes on each saw cut section in each direction and overlapped about 50%. Across and back is 1 pass. After each section was done I repeated the process on the entire floor.

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

This takes time- a lot of time. Keep the burnisher moving, but at a very slow pace. You will feel a change in the floor and in the sound the burnisher makes as you go. The floor will get smoother and smoother as the HD40 hardens. It almost looked like it was flashing off as I worked the...

Shop Floor with Concrete Dye and HD40

Next day, time to go to work with the burnisher. Sometimes they are hard to find as a rental, but I don't think a buffer will do the job. They are too slow, burnishers run at 1700-2200 rpm. If regular rental places don't have a burnisher check with a janitorial supply house. Many of them will...
