Grease / lube for a new 4 post lift

I sprayed some dry lube on the channels the nylon blocks run on.I think it was made by the PB blaster co. I didnt want to use a wet lube since that can attract dirt. Id make sure the pulleys were greased because I saw a post on my mustang forum where a pulley cut 1/2 way through the shaft due...

    built-up posts

A farmer I know had a pole building put up in the early -mid 80s with the built up posts. The company usually used soild posts but in an effort to cut costs switched to the built up. They eventually came back to encase them in concrete after complaints of early rot.

Flood vents in garage: Anyone have to use them?

Theres a house on the river here that has 3- 36" culverts poured into the foundation that lets the water run through the entire length of the house at times of flooding.

    DIY concrete slab in sections?

Just a tip- if you decide to do it in sections(I wouldnt) dig under the previous poured slab about 6"x6" the full length and make sure you get concrete from the new slab pour in this area. It forms a sort of keyway that keeps the slabs from heaving uneven at the joints.

Re: Want to install 2-Post Lift in garage, is floor thick enough to support? tips install All the lift models I looked at said 4" minimum which is pretty standard. The models with the cables on the floor are called "floor plate" style. Standard concrete mix in this area is 3500 psi in 14...

    Backfill retaining wall?

Vibratory plates are just about useless unless you are using sand. Then they still stink compared to a jumping jack. We've banned the vibratory plates on almost all our projects. What was on the other side of the wall that fell down?

    Backfill retaining wall?

As mentioned if the concrete chunks are too big the voids will cause settling. We had a inspector backfill behind new bridge abutments with the old busted up abutments and it took 2-3 years of patching to correct the settlement. The walk behind compactor & thin clay lifts would be the best fix...
