    Lighting: Overboard, or WAY overboard?

maxGarage - I went with the A-19 lighting solution in my woodworking and automotive shops and I love the lighting. I find it a much more versatile lighting solution than flourescent or LED strip lighting. If you need more light in a specific area just pop in a higher lumen lamp and you're all...

Spray foam around inside of exterior sheathing.... Good idea?

That would be a very good idea. When filling gaps around doors and windows use only the low expansion foam. If you do decide to use spray foam on the walls be sure it is at least 2" thick closed cell foam. That will eliminate condensation within the wall cavity which would be a very bad thing...

A crooked playhouse for the kids

Jack - No cringing, just fascination at your attention to detail. Your play stove solution is ingenious. I even like the surreal effect of the wall stud bisecting the cook-top. It kind of compliments that Wizard-of-Oz thing. The plywood gusset connection of the rafter to the stud is spot on...

Re: Table-Saw Trouble: Let's Be Safe In 2016 Jack, In my previous post I was remiss in not commenting on what a wonderful job you did on the playhouse. Your design is creative, bold, and beautifully executed. As an architect I have a keen appreciation of such things. Well done Sir. John Minton

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Re: Table-Saw Trouble: Let's Be Safe In 2016 I feel your pain Jack. Been there and done that 42 years ago. Bad cut, but no nerve damage. I regained full function and have only a small chunk of my right index pad missing. Like Skamp I use the Grr-Ripper when I can. For cuts with the blade 90...

    New Millermatic 211

Thanks Smalltown! I just ordered the 211 with the $200 rebate and free spool gun. I've wanted to learn MIG welding for a long time and now I'll have a great machine to start off with. The ability to weld aluminum is a nice plus too. John Minton

    Electrolysis tank power supply options?

ZKLing did mean the power supply from inside a computer. Amazon sells an ATX computer power supply for $12. It is a fairly easy job to modify the supply for 3.3V, 5V, and 12V taps. Google "ATX power supply conversion". I did the conversion for my electrolytic rust removal system. It works great...

Please School Me on Pex and Freezing

The furnace went out in my cabin in Maine a few winters ago and all the plumbing froze. We lost two toilets and 2 faucets, but all the pex piping survived the thaw. I have experience with the pex plastic clamp bands, the metal bands, and sharkbite fittings. All have performed well. Hope this...

Wouldn't change a thing. Very well thought out. Where did you source the parts sorting tray? John Minton
