That's it. Thanks for the link. I had doubts about its history as a sharpening device, but this pretty much seals it. Now what it was doing in a high end cutlery shop for five decades is another story.

I had the same thought, but knowing where it came from most definitely cements it's history. They did a lot more than cutlery, but it's hard to say how this particular piece was used.
