    Favorite low-tooth ratchet

I have two 3/8" ratchets for everyday use. One is coarse tooth: Ko-ken 2753P. 24 teeth and the smoothest, lowest backdrag ratchet I've ever used. The people in here that don't understand the purpose of a low tooth count should seriously give it a chance. It's my go-to for the majority of...

Options for portable socket/drive tool storage?

Hope I'm understanding your situation correctly, but when I'm for instance working on something in the driveway and need to ferry tools from my tool cabinet in the garage, I like using an open-top tool tray (the kind that Craftsman used to put inside their portable tool boxes). Super handy...

SK vs Snap-On Quality! Is There Really A Difference?

I consider it a real shame that most guys here in the USA haven't heard of/tried Ko-ken. Maybe it's the "Asian-sounding" name; it's possible some assume it's Chinese/Taiwanese without investigating further. As a company they make nothing but sockets and ratchets, and that hyper-focus shows...

Looking at a tool box. Performax vs Harbor Freight (US General)...

The little "ball bearing" logo on the Performax looks quite similar to the decal they used on the Craftsman boxes in the 90s. Anyone know if that's significant?

Wright Tool WRIGHTGrip 2.0 on the way

It is certainly a real phenomenon. Made in USA has some dollar value, to each individual (most, anyway) and as a market average. The Taiwanese companies, for example, have to offer things like higher QC and lower prices to overcome this starting deficit and make the final sale to people like...

How often do you wash your mechanic gloves?

I assume you're talking about "Mechanix" gloves or other such similar. I have two pairs and every once in a while wash them with Gojo. Just put them on and scrub the way I would wash my hands if I weren't wearing gloves. Cleans them up ok and I just let them air dry.

Wright Tool WRIGHTGrip 2.0 on the way

Right on. I'm a DIY-er so couldn't justify the truck prices. I went with some KTCs, made in Japan. They're excellent, like most Japanese wrenches I've owned, but I'd assume I'm SOL in case I ever break one. Would buy a Wright version in a heartbeat.

Please recommend your top 3 brand names for home hand tool use.

Different brands are good at making different things. I know that's not the answer you're looking for, but it's true. "Professional grade" is also a slippery term, but I would consider SK and Carlyle to both fall under that umbrella. If you're talking "bang for the buck", it's tough to beat...

Wright Tool WRIGHTGrip 2.0 on the way

I know you're talking about zero offset combos, but extra long double-box zero offset is one of my favorite and most-used tools, but they're very hard to find outside of truck brands. Would be really cool to see a company like Wright put out a line of them. Also I'm yet another vote for...

    Snap-On corporate health.

I couldn't have put it any better myself. For companies (basically all of the truck companies) to be in the business of selling products, but still have confusing and difficult-to-navigate websites with bad search functions, is suicidal in this day and age.

    New SK Tools in 2018

Making my first post to say I'd love to see SK make a zero offset, double box, long pattern wrench. This is a super handy and useful tool that I reach for constantly. The only companies offering them right now, that I'm aware of, are the truck brands and the prices are prohibitive. Snap-On...
