Mini split performance issues- pics and videos included

Had a tech come out today and he found the unit had almost no 410a left. Added about 5 pounds. Service call was about $300 all said and done. Also spent an hour or so checking for leaks at the flare connections and found nothing, which was concerning. So he added some leak sealant just in case...

Mini split performance issues- pics and videos included

I installed this 24k ducted mini split heat pump last fall. It worked great for a few months and then performance gradually slowed. Based on what I've read I think I might have a leak in the line set, but I just wanted to run this by you guys before I moved forward. The following tests were...

Jumped the gun, broke my shaft. Do you know where I can get a replacement?

Hey so... I think this might be my saw. I just checked the pictures and my shaft broke in the exact same place and with the same pattern on the metal. See below. I gave it away for free on craigslist in november. The guy said he was going to fix it, so I'm kind of bummed he sold it to you for...

How to turn a 90 with conduit inside wall

I see. What I meant was, I've already come to terms with needing an accessible LB inside the wall. I was just thinking about what to use from that LB to the panel. Using PVC conduit would mean I would have to chop the straight runs up into multiple sections, to feed it through the studs. So I'd...

How to turn a 90 with conduit inside wall

Can I run my XHHW wires inside flexible conduit in the wall? Like smurf tube. Or does it have to be in rigid conduit.

Vent for an exterior sewage ejector pump?

It's kind of in a visible location and I'd rather not have such a long run of pipe. Is that possible or against code?

Vent for an exterior sewage ejector pump?

I have a sewage ejector pump right outside my house. It receives the sewage from my garage, which was too far away to do a gravity drain. The basin I got has a hole for a 2" vent, and I'm just going to have a short section of pipe sticking out of it. I'm trying to figure out how to properly...

How to turn a 90 with conduit inside wall

The panel is 5 stud bays over, and about 3’ higher. Bringing the LB to directly behind the panel sound way more practical, but it would have been ugly since it’s in an exposed area... my wife vetoed that. So now I need to figure out how to run conduit inside the wall. picture hosting

How to turn a 90 with conduit inside wall

I’m pulling #1 aluminum wire to my shop. Right now I have a 1.5”LB coming up from the ground and into face of a 2x6 the wall, like this: https://www.doityourself.com/forum/attachments/electrical-ac-dc/1950d1342504394-nj-code-spa-shed-p_scw_262_09.jpg Now, I need to run conduit straight up to my...

What type of wire to use for detached garage subpanel (crawlspace + buried run)

Got it. So, for my 100amp subpanel, I will use 1/0-1/0-1/0-2 SER for the crawlspace run and 1/0 XHHW outside where it will be buried in PVC conduit. (Looks like I could get away with #1, but I'd like to be able to upgrade later if I need to... my subpanel is rated for 200A). As far as the...

What type of wire to use for detached garage subpanel (crawlspace + buried run)

Thanks, I'll look into that. Is there any cable at all that can be run exposed in crawlspace, as well as in conduit underground? Or is this just a bad idea because cable of this size (#1 or 2) would be too hard to run through conduit in the first place.

What type of wire to use for detached garage subpanel (crawlspace + buried run)

I'll look into that. My home depot only sells copper THHN. They do sell something called USE wire... will that work for my underground conduit run? I did some searching and it did say it was approved for conduit use underground...

What type of wire to use for detached garage subpanel (crawlspace + buried run)

I need to connect my main panel to the 100amp subpanel in my detached garage. The run goes like this- 1. 50 feet of crawlspace 2. 50 feet of underground My assumption was that I would just run individual #3 THHN copper wires the whole way in conduit. But I'd like to avoid having to run conduit...

Running mini split lineset through wall?

...as opposed to running the lines on the outside of the building. My garage is new construction and with access to the stud cavities, I'd like to hide the lines for my minisplit. It seems to be a semi-common practice but I read warnings about condensation. So I was thinking about running the...
