Not sure what happened to the original pic. I hope I'm attaching it again (showing the bridges and to the right is where they will be placed) and 2 other pics of the bridge. There are a lot of braces making it difficult to paint. If I put any coating on the steel, I'm leaning towards spraying...
Never heard of Cosmoline before... A quick search looks like it would be my best choice IF I try anything on it. It appears the only downside to using Cosmoline would be the bridge might be slick/waxy, but I could leave the expanded metal on top, untreated.
I never thought there would be this...
Thank you thank you thank you!
Looks like your father hit the nail on the head and your search abilities reconfirmed it. I won't waste any more time 'prepping' the steel and just place it 'as is' and not look back...
I bet that special steel cost a significant amount more and I would have...
And you might be 100% correct!
The fab shop said without it being treated, it should easily last 20 years. By that time, I'd be 85 and probably not even know where the bridge was... 😀

When I had my building built I wanted skylights too, but my builder said it's not a matter of if they leak but when they leak. He tries to steer people away from using them on roofs. We instead installed half sheets on the side, which work fairly well.
And I thought my uncle was the only one that straightened nails... I watched him do some old roofing nails with the big square head for holding felt down. He did have a neat setup though. It was an old brake rivoting stake tool on a stand. He modified a jig so the shaft would go in the hole...
This is my friend's dog, Max, who I occasionally dog sit for. He's a good old boy and loves his beaver! [emoji2]

Like everyone else said, don't do it. I did it on a small $30k building. I had a couple small issues that if he would have made a half *** effort to address I wouldn't be taking him to small claims court. He even says he puts stuff in writing because he's had issues with other people too. Words...
