Hi Negen,
The 35 inch models do not come with a metal cover. The 42" and up do. I believe the newer ones come with stainless tops, or stainless caps around the MDF. When I bought mine first SHD boxes years ago (2011), the options for the 42" and up models were galvanized metal work surfaces.
Hey Everyone,
Several years ago I posted information about SPG's SHD line of toolboxes in my effort to find a decent quality box for a good price. That discussion can be found here:

Today I am...
Hi Everyone,
I was one of the lucky ones to score a 35" SHD cabinet before they all disappeared off the Home Depot website. I had a sheet metal shop fabricate an 18 gauge metal "cap" to go over the MDF wood top that comes with it. So far my only complaint is that it takes a bit more force to...
Hey, I got the heater exchanged for free - I am glad they decided to do that. It pays to hold onto the receipt and to state your case politely. I will definetely continue to purchase products from this wholesaler.
As for the broken heater, I was told it is rare (one in the last 4 to 5 years...
The fan never stayed on to "cool" the unit after it reached the proper temperature. I read about it, and when asked, I was told by the manufacturer that it was to "maximize" the efficiency of the heater rather than "cool" down the heater itself. If I remember correctly, they said it was to...
Hi Guys,
Almost one year ago to the day I had a Dimplex RFI commercial grade 3000 watt heater installed in my garage. Worked like a charm, that is until today. The heater was off and on (maintaining temp) for most of the day until I went outside and a saw an amber colored light (temp warning...
Hey,
I have the SHD 35 inch matching top and bottom pieces.
The bottom box came in flawlessly a couple years ago and I have never had any issues with it. Two common complaints are that the drawers are "harder" to open because of the detent on the sliders (they get better with age). The other...
Not to hijack this thread, but I received their SHD series top chest - I had their bottom SHD box and had absolutely no issues with it whatsoever. The chest, however, was delivered and was not "square". It would not sit on top of the matching bottom box properly (it rocked back and forth), and...
I envy all of you with garages bigger than a single car garage (10x20). Our house is not new, but man, any houses in the area with a double car garage are worth almost twice that of a house with a single car. I too curse the original builders wishing they had built it an extra two or four feet...
SPG International makes the Craftsman boxes for Sears. The Craftsman Professional line is a rebadged SPG International Pro line. I have SPG's super heavy duty line and have no complaints other than I should have bought their biggest roll cab instead the small one I currently have.
Ditto to the...
Hey,
I have not yet purchased the matching top chest. Hopefully this summer I will get it.
No complaints with the box I have. I have rolled it around my small garage, opened and closed the drawers and filled them up with no issues. Yes, a common complaint is the drawers are harder to close and...
I have never owned any tool boxes before my International Super Heavy Duty series 35" roller cab, so I have nothing really to compare it to. I would give it a decent rating as it does feel solid, more so than some of the other boxes I have seen around. Strange, but I always seem to try and open...
I have a 10x20 with 10 foot high ceilings and have used a 1500 watt heater to heat it to a comfortable working temp of 20 degrees celcius. I left it on and had it up to 22 and 23 degrees. BUT, once the garage cools down, it does take a while to heat back up again (several hours). The walls...
Hey guys,
Not to hijack this thread, but I have that model from Princess Auto and I had to get the material that goes inside seperately. I was there today and asked about the idea of having it away from the compressor by so many feet as specified in the instructions. Since I only have a single...
